Welcome to a lifetime adventure of challenges, frustration & ecstasy and limitless possibilities. You can literally travel the world with this dance and immediately share intimate experiences with the interesting people through the lovely embrace and not even share a word of the same language. Love in the length of a song or tanda. Beyond words! Hailing from Napoli, Italia at Margheritango, Salon Margherita.

Uruguayan Style.

There is a remarkable difference between the real Argentine tango dance (Argentine-Uruguayan in reality) which is improvisation and the other tango that is danced in the USA and that is only a choreography like that of several of the examples in the video. If you have some experience in the dance you can notice the programmed of the movements in the latter, unlike the freedom that is felt in Argentine tango. In the tango that is completely choreographed, they can not do any step different from the programmed one.

Learning tango is much more than learning steps. Knowing how to MOVE is the key. The leader gets the woman to step FIRST so her leg is out of the way. He steps a split second AFTER the woman moves. If the man moves his foot first, he will kick the woman or step on her foot.
@joachimwrang-widen5366
@joachimwrang-widen5366 2 жыл бұрын
As Tangomaniac eloquently summarised the sequence, the lady steps first. If there are feet stepped on etc, there is an obvious lack of synchronisation. The man invites/suggests the lady to move and she moves followed by the man moving, following her. Just as this excellent film points out. All preferably in a 1/100 of a second. The old question will remain: who is actually leading and who is actually following? Having started argentinian tango only four months ago and now spending many hours/week, it's very obviously an addictive phenomenon - you have been warned. Highly recommend anyone to start tangoing.

The United States has absolutely no relationship with tango. From Buenos Aires, it was exported to the world, where it was loved and respected. I would like to ask you all a question, what is the importance of tango as a whole
@AvantangoMedia
@AvantangoMedia 10 ай бұрын
OK, I'll try: tango was the first dance to fully exploit the close embrace of the dancers and their independence from other couples and from each other: dances before the tango were either separate dancers, (like the contradance) or in groups or rows (like the minuet), and when the waltz introduced the embrace, dancers mostly walked and turned, and their movements mirrored each other. Dancers twirled and talked. In tango the embrace, (close embrace, not like the waltz), allows the dancers to move their feet and legs independently of each other. It's a serious dance, no talking. This was new, and of course, scandalous! Until the French said "c'est chic!" and the rest is history.

Why do you think Vals and Milonga are not belonging to the Argentine Tango?? For Milonga you need much more rhythmic feeling and phantasie than for tango. and there are few people who understand Vals. Here on youtube you even can watch teachers who "try" ---who try -- to dance vals.

It's important that a lady know how to improvise. You just can't "lead" her.
@tangomaniac1
@tangomaniac1 4 жыл бұрын
Well, the entire dance is improvised. The man leads EVERY step. However, the woman has some freedom in her interpretation of how to do the step. The best example is boleos. Woman add their personality, playing with the music. The woman can do whatever she wants as long as he DOESN'T interrupt the lead.

@@tangomaniac1 if you have a good follower the way she moves will also suggest how to proceed. Of course you can still lead something else and she will follow no problem, but it feels more like figuring out the dance together than just the leader giving the instructions. Like- okay, I wanted to dance this rhythm and do that, but with the quality of her movement and the way she did her decorations I want to actually maybe give her a little more time to whatever and follow her in it or maybe go into another step and follow the violin instead of the piano and bass as I intended to, because she moved a little more fluid and it seems more appropiate now. I think it should be more like a dialogue where you always stay open and listen to adjust your dance to what your partner is doing.

If immigrants brought their music and dances with them that means that tango was originated from Europe. We all know that Argentina is half populated by Italians, so figure this out? Tango is tango and nothing else, in New York, Paris or Rome. Call it Argentinian or Argentine to separate it to New Tango (Tango Nuevo) or Ballroom Tango, okay but please give to Cesar what belongs to Cesar! Tango was invented by Italians and without them Tango music wouldn't have violin, accordeon and guitar. A bit like Paso Doble, invented by French because in South of France they have a similar culture and traditions than Spain. Nice video by the way because all the rest you are talking about is very interesting, I am a dancer myself! ❤🌹
