Bass notes have longer wavelengths, accordingly for such compositions fewer broken notes of progressive chords or inversions or a combination of chromatic notes at times may complement more.... Good to learn from such videos..you really have opened many windows of improvisations, thank you.

Hey Mohini, you are a brilliant musician and I love quite a bit of the music you have been a part of.I have been a bass player for over 40 years and still I couldn't touch what you do in a million years. But have some observations I want to share. I notice that in recent videos your tone has gotten a lot fatter than it used to be. I think that is really great. But when you slap, your tone still is very thin. I know you want the definition and clarity to be there and when you play fingerstyle it works. I'm sure If I stood next to your rig It would probably shake the room with deep lows but listening to you on my stereo ( and i have a good one) that does not come across. As soon as you slap, the bottom drops out, there's no warmth, no punch, just brittle high end. I think it's the pickup placement on your bass and maybe too low action not enough relief in the neck.If it is too flat notes can get choked out. Most of my basses have J bass pickups in the 70s position. I have 4 , 5, and 6 string basses and that works every time. Hendrik Linder from the Dirty Loops used to sound thin as well, but he got a new bass and maybe he EQs it differently too.Check out their tune Rock You.He sounds way punchier than he used to. I hold you in the highest respect, but I know your sound could be better than it is right now.

"The composition is absolutely screwed" is what I was about to type. Sooner before that, around the end of the video, Mohini herself said "don't over play like this" 😁. She knows what she is doing(or "saying" as in the end of the video). And she absolutely knows when she has over-killed a track. I would like to reiterate what she said, as the key for Bollywood or film music or any record producer/song-writer's project for that matter, is to keep things at the minimal and help the band and the lyrics shine more than you or your instrument. This applies bare minimum 😯 💯% for the bass. Showing off licks is just okay, when it is a fusion or instrumental jazz during solos. But trying over-doing the bass might only end-up in getting yourself fired😁 or KILLING THE BAND with thine own hands!!!. Hope every bassist who sees this video understands this million dollar idea and doesn't go over-board with the bass...Cheers 🙄and as always "Mohini's got the chops!!"
