I just visited Sinhagad (Kondhana) on Sunday. After watching the area from where Tanaji climbed the fort, just makes me think, how Tanaji and his companions were so brave, fearless and determined for their goal, because that area is so steep and dangerous. He was truly a lion !!

The important part missed in translation is the usage of the word "Swaraj" which means "Self rule" which is the ideological basis of the freedom movement of India. The Marathas were not just fighting for themselves but for this much higher goal. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj stood for "Hindvi Swaraj" which means "Hindus Self-Rule" against the mighty Mughal Empire who were imposing their Islamic rule and oppression on Hindu majority India. The trailer now also has English translation which is much better in conveying the gist and meaning than the English translation you have used.

There is no traitor. "Kondhana is with them", Kondhana was a very strategic fort at that time which was considered to be unconquerable. It was under the the Mughal hold. This movie is about Tanhaji, who was a great general in Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's army. He was the one who defeated Mughals and recaptured Kondhana.

There was a treaty of purandar between chhatrapati Shivaji and aurangzeb brokered by Mirza Jai Singh under which 23 forts of Shivaji maharaj were under control of Mughal emperor aurangzebs control including kondhana fort where the battle is to begin. Chhatrapati Shivaji maharaj took oath to win back kondhana in one night as instructed by his mother rajmata jijausaheb. When tanaji heard about this he volunteered to lead the battle for marathas and take fort in one night before his son's wedding. And he did it marathas attacked in night from a steep valley climbed the fort and battle began where udaybhan and tanaji both were injured and dies due to their wounds but marathas won the fort by defeating Mughal army. Udaybhan rathod was Mughal governer of that fort.

Hi Jaby .. I am from the place where Shivaji maharaj.. Sambhaji Maharaj.. Tanaji Malusare and many others fought, and spent their most of the life. India is immensely a historical country. History that gives us goosebumps and tears at the same time. Among all the states, Maharashtras(Marathi) history is breathtaking, I mean If you sit and start reading about it you will ask yourself, 'oh my God, what kind of people had been there in Maharashtra during Shivaji Maharaj era ?..there is no one who can replace their appearances. Fierce and mighty.. always blood flowing in their eyes.. their swords were 40 and 60 kgs. I cant explain it..its beyond explanation..speechless. You will see many more movies about Marathi warriors.well, fort Kondhana(we always trek) name were renamed by The King Shivaji Maharaj as Sinhgad(Lions Fort) after Subhedar Tanaji Malusare won it.

Jaby Luke Kenny (Malcolm from Sacred Games) is playing the role of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb who was passively aggressive and was laying back. You visited the Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal emperor Shahjahan who is the father of Aurangzeb(he was the worst Mughal emperor out of all the emperors who ruled India, he was heartless, he was evil, he was very shroud and clever) So yeah if you got uncomfortable and scared by his sitting posture and his demeanor that means the makers have done a good job by casting Luke Kenny for this role of Aurangzeb.

At that time, they were fighting single handedly with Mughals & Rajputs From North, British - Portugese - Dutch - French Naval powers seeking opportunities to intrude in Maratha Land in the name of Trading. From South and East 5 Sultanes ( AdilShahi, Nijamshahi, Imadshahi, Kutubshahi, Imadshahi) and Nijams Of Hyderabad. So Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Made a Great efforts to drag their sons of soil out of their Slavery and Humiliation. The First king who had vision to make a Strong Navy and Efficient warfare technique called Guerilla warfare. Shivaji Maharaj’s army were used to do sudden raid with minimum loss and maximum yield or maximum possible damage to the enemy. Marathas were the Most Expeditious Army Cavalry at that time.. their horse rode from almost every state of India. There was a Famous line in History " अहद तंजवर तहद पेशावर अवघा मुलुख आपुला " it means " Here is Tanjavur There is peshawar Whole country is ours.. Ride across it. Raise the nationhood amongst the people " Marathas were the True sons and Saviors of this Soil. One famous line Depicting the Greatness of Marathas which is "महाराष्ट्र मेला राष्ट्र मेले " means " If Maharastra suffers then whole Country suffers"

Kondhana is the name of a fort. It was under Mughal control. In spite of Tanhaji's presence required in his son's wedding, he still left to carry out a raid on Kondhana at the orders of the most famous Maratha King Shivaji, because it was a very opportune moment to carry out the attack. Tanhaji successfully captured the fort, but lost his life, to which King Shivaji famously said : "गड आला पण सिंह गेला", which means, "We got the fort, but lost a lion. Kondhana was renamed "Sinhagad" which translated means "Lion's Fort"

But talks about removing the existence of 'bhagwa' (saffron: Colour of Marathas and in modern context the colour of Hindu revivalists) And then Tanhaji/Ajay D, goes on to say, that you cannot remove something, whose existence is declared every morning at sunrise and every evening at sunset The colour saffron at dusk and dawn. Implying it is everlasting or Sanatana, also something to denote Hindus with (Santana Dharma) The subber did a bad job at best and almost malicious at worst.

The King was actually trying to hide the fact that the attack was being planned from Tanaji so that Tanaji could focus on the marriage of his son. Because Maharaj knew if Tanaji becomes aware of this attack he’d even leave his own son’s marriage behind and jump on the operation Kondhana. Which exactly what happened.

I know it's late but there are some mistakes in the story of movie. In reality Tanaji was killed by Udaybhan, after his death his uncle Shelar mama took the command and killed Udaybhan. There were very few soldiers from Maratha side compared to what shown in movie. There was no such secret way to go up to fort, soldiers climbed the whole cliff As it's shown that one soldier falls down from cliff before battle, in reality no soldier died during the climb, Marathas were experts in climbing. The Nagin Cannon does not existed. Tanaji defeated Udaybhan but spares his life, as he begs for his life, Tanaji got stabbed from behind by Sardar Beshak Khan. Whom you can see in Movie Farzand. Marathas use a special type of sword technique which we can't see in movie. Well there are many more such mistake.

Why there is no mention of the saffron flag in the 'subtitles' by whoever Rashi ?! Countless people have laid down their life for the bhagwa. The reference to saffron flag was very obvious in both the trailers and I think she purposely dropped it coz of her own prejudices.
