Tanya Tucker - Delta Dawn (Lyrics)
Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky
She's forty-one and her daddy still calls her "baby"
All the folks around Brownsville say she's crazy
'Cause she walks down town with a suitcase in her hand
Looking for a mysterious dark-haired man
In her younger days they called her Delta Dawn
Prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on
Then a man of low degree stood by her side
And promised her he'd take her for his bride
Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky

When my sister was 2 years old, she memorized this song from the radio and sang it all the time. Over and over, everywhere, all the time, lol. She drove us nuts. My grandmother finally bought her a 45 of it so she could sing with Tanya Tucker. My sister died at the end of April, 2014. This song came up in my suggestions today, I haven't thought of it in decades. Bittersweet to hear it again.

It's a little mind blowing seeing Tanya Tucker with this out fit . I bought one at age 16-17 but put all Middle Eastern assessories . Gladiator shoes I loved so much , I bought two pair ! My Mother use to were this vinal album out , especially on Saturday..We got to dance with broom and the mop to this song . She did make it fun , til the mean man came along . I met Tanya in the 1970's when she was still working the rodeo circuit to get her career going. She came to our town to sing at the rodeo and the she visited our local hospital. My dad worked at the hospital as a x-ray tech so we got to go meet her and have a very quick chat! She was very nice.
