You could spend over $1,000 on several guitar pedals to sound this cool…or just go to THEPHONOLOOP and buy Tapes.01. Spoiler, it’s really good and they probably used something a little bit better than a Walkman to make these loops. Plus, all you need is the free Kontakt Player…and a lot of free time to go through all the presets.

For some reason yt has been showing various demos of tapes.01 to me every day for like a week now, and I'll probably get it when Black Friday comes. The sounds are indeed gorgeous, and thank you for a very informative demo. I stand convinced :-) I do want to take issue with one thing though. 10:10 the ability to modulate the modulators is something literally every decent modern soft synth has. And if it doesn't, it may not be a "decent" synth. It's just like with granular synthesis - since it started appearing in some Kontakt libraries, I've seen reviews heap praise on that, as if it was something new and remarkable and only just discovered. (Tape Loops from Spitfire Audio comes to mind, with its deeply meh implementation of granular compared to, say, Pigments or Phase Plant). I can only wish plugin authors started ditching the archaic and limited Kontakt as interface, and joined the rest of the modern VST world. If nothing else, this plugin could have a resizable interface and be much nicer to actually see that way. But modulating the modulators would be almost too obvious to deserve a special mention. It's almost like you have to try much harder in vst world than you do in the world of Kontakt libraries. But I still like tapes.01 a lot!

Yeah, its surprising to me that tons of VST's come out all the time that lack even simple LFO's and ADSR curves. Thanks for the comments. I think you'll like it when you get it. I've had it for over a year and still use it pretty regularly.

Awesome, thanks for the sub. Yeah, I love the tone on this VST and there is a ton of power for sound design. It's still one of my favorite VST's to use.

Thank you for the video! I'm not sure when this was made exactly, but Kontakt has a stretch option in the bottom right corner to make the GUI's larger. Not sure if the free player does that though.

You're welcome. For me the triangle at the bottom changes the window size, but not the interface size...unless I am missing something.

@@rivella99 not yet, but I'm seriously considering buying it this week. It's on sale bundled with Auras but $440 is a bit painful in the wallet department. I'm really looking forward to taking content from Tapes and running it through Cycles and vice versa. That has huge potential.

@@arcticfoxstudios2018 Yes their plugins are quite expensive. I only have Cycles from them. You could try to ask for a price reduction and offer a review video in return.

Can you use the effects on drum samples in maschine...

You could if you are just looking to resample. You can drag & drop samples into this and use the effects and add noise and then output that to new wav files to import back into Machine. I don't think you can run sounds from machine straight into this and have them be affected. If you can, I'm not sure how you would do that.
