Actually it's not a mormon hymn, it's originally a swedish song; O store Gud (oh great God) lyrics by Carl Boberg (it's very narrowly translated into english) and the melody is an old swedish folksong.

She is absolutely a woman of God to be able to sing like this. She loves her family. Very sad that they cannot all reconcile. All it would take would be for her brother to apologize and admit what he did to his dad.

He must have sustained some brain damage earlier in his life that Tara might not even know about, his behavior is not normal, his brain is not well and he has no capacity to do what is needed. Mother had brain injury as well. Dad is not well either, its not up to them to act differently than they are acting. Brain problems are mostly not fixable.

I feel like you missed a lot of the points made in the book. It would take a lot more than him apologizing. He may not be capable of changing. He needs a doctor and a psychiatrist which he will never be willing to get.
