Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino were the absolute STARS of Les Nuits de Nacre festival in Tulle, southern France in 2020. Their performance of this work was the star of that star performance. As a Brit, brought up on Punk, living in France, listening to Christine and teh Queens, finding Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino was a revelation. And I have never looked back!!

Thank you so much for this song, and the dance, and this powerful video. It helps us remember who we are. I watched a video of Silvia Perrone dancing in the square. I used to dance the tarantella at my mom’s church during the Italian festivals they held there but this is something else. It brought me to tears. I sat sobbing and trembling watching it over and over again, my body reacting to something my conscious mind doesn’t understand. Waking up something deep inside. Several other witchy women I know had the same reaction. She would have danced to help people heal in her community in ages past. Such a public display of healing power has been forbidden to us women of the modern age. Our ancestors met violence and death preserving these sacred rituals. Thank you for this beauty, thank you for this healing.

This dance ❤ i watched during the illegal lockdown in uk. I am still very moved by this free spirited expression of pride and defiance of our sovereignty as free human beings. We will not be controlled by fear, we will not be told how to live, we will not be told what we shall eat or how far we can travel, we will not have our bodily rights over ruled. This wonderful dancer inspires so much spiritual fight, a warriors dance. We will not be controlled. All humans are sovereign. All humans are free. Thank you so very much for this. We're in 2020 now, four years after you guys had shared with all of us this beautiful and mesmerizing song. This lyrics are so... powerfull, because they're truth. When we're plagued by anguish, by pain, by plague... it's like we're dying inside, even more if we don't have anyone with whom we can speak. And with dance, with music, we can heal, we can dance till our feet hurts, scream till our throat became voiceless, play until our fingers and hands bleed. We can just let all this anguish out of our chest. And this all helps in this process of cure. Be it ours, be it for others. Thank you for this.

Sono una italiana nata in Argentina. La prima volta che sono andata a Italia ho dovuto appena arrivata a tornare per il Covid. Bisogno di andare a Sicilia e potere conoscere miei radici. Comunque questo pezzo è un vero e proprio incantesimo..in questo momento che è per me difficile e mi è stata diagnosticata una dermatite da stress ogni volta che finisce la canzone scoppio a piangere anche se un minuto prima stavo bene...se è malinconia cacciala fore dice..ed è vero

I saw these magical people perform at WOMAD 2019. Their song called to me from across the fields; I ran to meet it and the next couple hours was absolutely enchanting. Unforgettable!

Thank you so very much for this. We're in 2020 now, four years after you guys had shared with all of us this beautiful and mesmerizing song. This lyrics are so... powerfull, because they're truth. When we're plagued by anguish, by pain, by plague... it's like we're dying inside, even more if we don't have anyone with whom we can speak. And with dance, with music, we can heal, we can dance till our feet hurts, scream till our throat became voiceless, play until our fingers and hands bleed. We can just let all this anguish out of our chest. And this all helps in this process of cure. Be it ours, be it for others. Thank you for this.
