I was taught the negative attribute method but a very talented friend suggested that I treat reversals as: 1) something going on below the surface or on a subconscious level, 2) something that needs be righted to move forward in a positive way, or 3) a willful block, the refusal to admit reality to oneself. It has worked very well over the years in 90% of my readings. An example = in late 2011, the Tower reversed was in almost every spread we read for a month. It had little to do with the question, but was in everyones subconscious thoughts. Reassurance and recognition was needed. We would pick up the card and set it to the side. Addressing it as a collective concern eased the mind and help everyone move past it.

A friend of mine who also practices tarot uses reversals as "things to avoid." Ex: 6 cups reversed = avoid sharing too much

Thank you very much for this video. I did a reading for a friend who had an all reversed spread and I was so stuck and felt so bad that I couldn’t read it. Your insights will help me see the cards in a different way when they are reversed and I’m so thankful!

I intentionally don't so reversals. I find it scares people and puts them in a negative frame of mind. The cards upright, have enough messages. Thanks for the video

I think your amazing I lost my spark with tarrot then I found you your are heaven sent and a huge help I would love if I could speak to you directly without sounding creepy lol its just so many decks I have I think of you as like a god teacher to tarrot who would not want you as a friend if not I will try to watch more videos you are fantastic I'm just finding a little overwhelming trying to soak all info in and iv been doing this over 2 years from scratch alone no help

There is a book on reversals only, written by Mary K Greer. she is the same author of the book named Tarot for yourself. I think both are available on Amazon site. BTW she's not my relative, surname coincidence only. I am new to tarot and learning.

What I have used is the reversal means the energy of the card is debilitated or not fully expresssed or developed. Example: 8 of pentacles reversed it is still a lot of work, but not as much as if it would be upright. Thanks because now I have more interpretations.

My friend does them but she goes off of intuition. She sometimes chose's to read the card as a shadow side for the opossed reversed. Some see reversed as blocks. I have seen reversed tower or death avoiding change or avoiding chaos. .the loss too yes .. I see that applied. I agree with that too

Sometimes I see as... Are you sure about it? That it's really clearly or cloudy? An an don't! Do it! 😅😅😅 I don't read reversals, but sometimes my inner says stay with reversal for that so I see as an alarme or an watch out positively ou negatively

Always decide these things before you do a reading. Both methods will work, so it’s a matter of personal choice. So choose one method and stick to it. Most readers find it easier to interpret the cards facing themselves.

Sir would you say that for a beginner it would be best to stay away from reversals until you become more familiar with the deck you are using or would it work the same with whatever deck you use? Also, in your videos I have not seen how you shuffle and draw the cards to put the parts together. As a beginner how would one know how many cards to pull depending on what someone is asking for? Would you pull three cards and then a fourth for clarity only if the 3 don't tell enough?

Ms. Coleman I’m not a professional however I can talk from personal experience. I’ve been reading tarot for 1 year now and as a beginner I started with both upright and reversals and it was SO confusing. I feel that it really stunted my learning to have an overload of definitions by including reversals. I found that first learning to interpret them upright can really help with the reversals. Especially if you are taking the opposite approach to reversals in tarot. In terms of the deck, in my experience I also tried to move on too fast to a deck that did not have the traditional images of tarot. I would recommend sticking to traditional and learning definitions for those before moving on to others but it is really just up to you :)

@@xmaritzaxx Thank you so much for responding. I am spending all the time I can to learning the meanings at the same time trying to also remember the sign attached to that particular card and that makes for a great deal of study. Because it is so much information to grasp I am trying to take the information and divide it up into sections of learning. I am finding it so interesting that I am able to see why some say to practice on yourself for the cards have warned me of things to come hours before it actually happened. My nephew even let me read him and he said I was accurate. I am so excited to be learning something that has always been interesting to me but I allowed others decision to influence my decision but not anymore. I am wide awake and happy with what I am doing for myself. Again thank you for your reply. :-)
