He would have surely gone back with them in the car and that is when he disappeared in thin air. I dont think he was in the mountains, they had sniffer dogs and they couldnt smell jay,they had drones, mountain rescue and expert rescuers Then there was the footage on the beach. Thats why the spanish authorities have cancelled the search.

I think the person who seen him Outside the apartment is lying. This is all very dark and police know what the undertone is but dont want to be truthful. Lucy has a big part of this and is definitely involved in drugs and he unfortunately thought this was easy money and in UK thought he was a bit of a gangster.
