To whoever commented worried about the tarpon being out of the water for two minutes and probably dying: tarpon can literally breathe air and I watched him swim off fine 😂

"They can literally breathe air" you sound like a f*ck wit this doesn't mean you can keep them out of the water for as long cast you like

Awesome video man. I was down there in Cape Coral and Sanibel Island 2 years ago. Love it down there. We rented a house with the canal in the backyard. Was epic! I just subscribed to your channel. Maybe next time i head down there, we can share a tide. If you ever head up to Massachusetts, i can put you on some nice striped bass. Keep up the great work bud.

Thank you for the sub and comment! I’m always open to fishing with others so let me know when you’re back down here. I’ll also keep that in mind if I’m up that way because some big striped bass are definitely on my bucket list!

Good luck! They’re everywhere you’ll land one soon! Although they usually have lockjaw when it’s really cold you may wanna wait for this front to pass and go during a warmup

Great video. I will be in Caoe Coral in July. Do you think it will be too hot for canal fishing at that time? Also, would you mind telling me what kind of lure you are using?
@FLFlatsmaster

Thanks for the comment. There will still be fish in these canals but in the summer months I like to fish on the beaches and passes. This day I was using a 3” zman minnowz in slam shady color on a 1/4 oz jighead

I'm in North Florida and plan on coming down to do some Canal fishing (Hwy 41) as I work my way down. What months do you think are the best fishing times for Tarpon and Snook?
@FLFlatsmaster
@FLFlatsmaster 7 ай бұрын
You can find them in canals off 41 all year long. February through May should be pretty good, before it gets really hot

Just moved to the area from Naples a year or two ago. Do a lot of shark fishing on the beach but been getting back into light-medium tackle snook and tarpon fishing. Grew up fishing the 10k islands on a kayak. If you don't mind answering some questions about the area id appreciate it! Mainly just want to know if these saltier fish are more west towards the burnt store/matlacha area or if they are pretty well distributed in all of the CC canals. I live in Fort Myers but have been wanting to get over to the cape to fish some canals. If you haven't checked it out before the franklin locks hold some monsters.

Thanks for the comment I’m happy to share what I know. I have been to Franklin and Ortona locks they are awesome places to fish. I’ve only been in this area for about 2 years I grew up fishing in Bradenton / Sarasota. But from what I’ve seen so far, there are plenty of snook and tarpon that are in the Cape Coral canals year round but I’ve had the best luck around burnt store. The further inland you go it will become more freshwater but snook and tarpon can thrive there no problem. I’ve heard that the small spillways off burnt store rd are really good during the rainy months. As it starts to warm up, I will be focusing mainly on grass / mud flats in and around Matlacha , pine island and Charlotte harbor.
