I don't even think it was really thought about that much. If a "traditional finish" was just caused by one script that could be used by any minigame then it was probably just added as a security measure because, when you code, that sort of security measures make sense to make. I don't really think they even thought about this possibility when they put it in, as I said, it's a pretty basic bug fixing habit.

@Stain Think of it this way: you have a button you can press that will always do the same exact thing. At any moment, you can press it, it will do what it should do instantly. In this case, the button is what's called the "method call", or the keyword if you prefer (though never use this term in programming, it means something else!) that triggers all the events that lead to this basic ending happening while in a minigame. Now when you code, you need to constantly make sure that you account for all the things that can go wrong at every point. What happens if this fails to load? What if this value goes under 0? What if someone uses a technique I don't know about to do this thing before they are supposed to? (that last one goes a bit far and more worthy of a " game patch" for instance but you get the gist) What I was saying was basically that this "method call" for the "traditional finish" was probably placed inside one of those "What if..." countermeasure. You check for stuff like that all the time in programming, almost instinctively (especially when you're dealing with numbers). And so, I can't really imagine that a Nintendo programmer actually envisioned that someone could do it -- he only though about what to do if it does happen. Does that make sense?

a book actually has three parts to it: the holes in the shapes, the words, and the covers. usually, its the holes in the shapes that are important, because they let us win. But sometimes its the words that we want. these let us read, which you will need to be doing right now to learn to build up speed. as for the covers, there's currently no cases where they're useful or important.
