[TAS] Celestial Resort L-Side in

This is a Tool Assisted Speedrun of Ythundyth's Celestial Resort L-Side, which you can download at gamebanana.com... if for some unholy reason you want to play it. It is nominally designed for RTA play, but the only things I can see coming from that are suffering or an ego boost, neither of which seem good. That being said, it's a decently interesting level to break with TAS tools, so here we are.
This TAS is a 23.5 second improvement over the previous version that I worked on with truegen. My work on that version was reflective of somebody much newer to Celeste TASing, and looking back at it, I saw lots of room for improvement. Sub 4 minutes was my stretch goal for the rework, but that ended up getting smashed lol. 3:4x is almost certainly possible, but working with a level this restrictive got more than a little old, so I'm happy with this.
Inputs in this TAS were largely written by me, with occasional portions from the original version still present. Additional shoutout to sashabell and Marlin for their help publishing this TAS in its current state. Sasha reworked the underwater screens and found another second of timesave elsewhere, and Marlin recorded this video for me since my laptop lagged considerably on some of the screens.

@@FahimlolNah she’d probably climb all the roofs of the city while dodging the raindrops, do a few wallbounces by throwing two pieces of debris into debris into the air and hypering off of them before wallbouncing, while dodging the raindrops, then start bouncing on the clouds

For you, it was years upon years, teenage adulthood, even your elder years gone, your life's work, set into this one level, it took you 10 to clear one room, and another 20 to clear the next. The hours you spent in your room hitting the keyboard keys was uncountable. For tas, it was a bright and early Sunday morning workout

Ah yes, my favorite TAS is back, and this time with even more speed. Congrats and thanks, it was very enjoyable to watch. And it's great to see that you share my opinion of this being a good, fair and very fun map. Sometimes I honestly wonder why this and Atone don't just become a new genre of Celeste maps.

Theres a lot of custom content in the celeste modding community thats around the main game's difficulty if not easier, extremely janky, wacky, difficult of this kind isn't as common (there are difficult maps out there but they're much more fair than this i think)

eh... it's a mediocre map. No diss to the creator, they probably know it isn't anything that special. It's a lot of "do this frame perfect obstacle 8 times", a lot more boring than vanilla celeste's B-side designs. The decorations are bare-minimum. I'm not sure there's anything positive I can say about this map. What does it do that makes it special compared to the K side? If the answer is "it's slightly harder", then that's a design fail. The original celeste B/C sides stepped up the difficulty by very clear increments, with each new side doing something the previous didn't. D-sides also had a clear purpose of implementing difficult community tech and putting a fanmade spin on things. I could probably get behind having one more letter, years after D-sides to show how much the modding community has progressed in terms of quality and design, but looking at L side? This map isn't it. This is the same level of quality I'd expect from the D-side era.

@@shinejnn2 I disagree, but you're entitled to your opinion. Having seen things like item abuse 3 from the mario romhack community, and mario must die, I have very high standards for things made for a tas. A tas is the perfect tool to show off crazy tech and extreme moves, and they are flawless so there's not much point in having multiple copies of each difficult obstacle. And considering this map has been beaten by real humans, that leads me to believe this was not designed for a tas.

You know when you watch a professional athlete do something and as an outsider you don't even realise how impressive it is because of the difference in skill level? That is how I am feeling right now. I know its obviously incredibly hard, insanely hard even, but the game went on so fucking fast I had no idea what was going on half the time, you know? I had no idea what this person had to do in to get past certain parts of the level. I had no idea what things to even be impressed about. To me bro just flew through the whole level once in a while doing some jumping shit I knew from my own experience how hard they are to do.

I actually watch a lot of stuff at X2 speed and sometimes i turn in on just because why not so after watching first 20 seconds i checked if it was turned on. It was not.
