Initially, this was going to be a small update to the TAS where I just optimise the DTDs and skip a few boost-plates to save a tiny amount of time...then the first lap happened.
Ultimately, I'm think I ended up saving ~0"15 with the new first lap which is...actually a good amount for Silence 1, but still not quite as much as I hoped it would be. Still, it was just enough to get me the sub 58 so I guess I shouldn't be complaining :)
Since I ended up losing some energy by landing on the rail, I had to omit a boost in the 2nd lap, which actually turned out alright since it was a boost that heavily overlapped into a DTD.
Old splits:
25"522, 18"289, 14"643 = 58"454
New splits:
25"699, 17"738, 14"525 = 57"962
Difference:
+0"177, -0"551, -0"118 = -0"492
Re-records: 4,858... plus ~200-400 from the recycled first lap.
9,164 total re-records (previous TAS + current TAS).
I found (what I believe is) the optimal strat while playing with a controller at 15% speed, then I optimised all of the movements using the TAS input plugin and frame advance.

the max speed reached mach 2 speed... i love this game so much, probably one of my favorite racing games of all time. the speeds you can reach feel so exhilarating

It's not ultra rare, there is not a single run that has beaten 1 minute. The wr currently is 1'00"638 and this is a tas.

whenever i boost and go over 1400km/h here, there are like 2 parts where in no fault of my own, i go flying into the atmosphere

The part just before the tunnel and the part during the energy refiller? Yeah, unfortunately that's pretty common. You can avoid flying off by holding up on the control stick to force the nose of the machine down and stick to the road a bit more firmly. On the part before the tunnel, this works up until about 1500km/h (please ignore the TAS going over 1600km/h here because the various trickery I use to make that work isn't viable for us humans). I forget the limit during the refill zone but if you're still falling off after holding up, you can maybe try driving on the left side of the road instead of the right side. The Expansion Kit exclusive track Silence 3 is much worse in this regard because there are parts where you need to be going less than ~820km/h(!) or you'll fly off the track just like in Silence 1.

How come these are borderline impossible to do in real time?

Because the margin for error is so tight on some of these dives, even in a TAS. Some DTDs like the second DTD at 0:29 are strictly TAS-only because the first DTD needs to be absolutely perfect in terms of speed, angling and general positioning to even get a *chance* at lifting off the road to perform the second DTD...but I've yet to see anyone even pull off the first DTD at all (I think I heard that Dan managed to get it but I'm not 100% sure). The second DTD also has to be absolutely perfect to even be worth going for. The 2 DTDs at 0:47 are technically possible to chain together because the margin isn't quite as tight, but you'd still need to be a top-tier player and have a lot of practice/time/luck to pull that off. Doing just the first DTD (like at 1:02) is just plain difficult, but it's possible with enough practice (though I've yet to pull it off and I'm a top 10 player under most metrics so...yeah). Doing just the second DTD is the easiest one and it's what the real-time WR (and my real-time PB) uses at the end of lap 2, but even then it's still very easy to dive too far to the left and miss the road upon landing.
