Castle of Illusion is one of the earlier games for the Genesis. Mickey must collect seven jewels to reach the final boss and save Minnie. He attacks enemies either by flinging apples at them, or by smothering them with his cast-iron buttocks.
This run is around 50 seconds faster than the previous run (tasvideos.org/811M.html), thanks to new tricks/glitches and better optimisation. Please read the author's comments (tasvideos.org/3320S.html) for more information on the new tricks and glitches.

one of the few genesis games I recall having an amazing colour palette and high quality art/graphics. Solid colours and didn't rely on dithering which was popular back then

So Mickey spent the whole game collecting the Chaos Emeralds and we don't even get to see his Super Mickey transformation?

Those aren't Chaos Emeralds, they're Disney's acquisitions of other companies. He won't be Super Mickey, he'll just be the Monopoly Man.

14:53 Ok, wow! This is really crazy. If you set the video to 720p60, you’ll see Mickey teleport on both sides on the off-frames as he’s going to the next platform. The fact that he DIES as he enters the portal and still making it shows how much of a close call this was. And even though he lost a try, when he gets hit by the boss, he goes BACK to 5 power HP, and keeps getting hit until he’s on 1 Power HP. Wow, just WOW. And at 11:45, he KNEW where the dragon was going to go! If that was a human playing, the luck would be UNBELIEVABLE. These may even be my favorite parts! Notice how if he gets hit, he flickers at 720p60 as well. Which leads me to my question: What would have happened if it beat the Clock Master without taking damage? Would the game give you 5,000 or 6,000 Technical Bonus points for the Power HP he was provided with? I know it can’t be 0 Technical Points because he took damage to 1 HP for a reason

Yeah, this TAS was pretty cool. Also, the Dragon fight is NOT luck based. The Dragon actually follows a pattern. Even I didn't know that until a few months (possibly a year) ago. Hope this helps!

@@jaru4564 Yeah I eventually realized that, you fall in the holes in this order: 1, 2, 4, 1, 3, 1 And then if you don’t do any damage, you have to memorize the rest. You also have to hold down or A/B/C (Attack) to jump on enemies

I never played this Mickey game as I never owned a Sega Genesis but I do own a the Sega Master System version which I always enjoyed playing. The graphics for this one look AMAZING.😍💕👍 I bought myself a large plush Mickey Mouse off eBay tonight which will be the perfect size for hugging while watching Mickey videos on YT.🐭

This game came out in late 1990 and early 1991 while Quackshot came out in December 1991.

LOL, it wasn't. This is a TAS, so it looks extra easy. I'm a gamer from those days and as I recall it was pretty well balanced, not too easy not too difficult, other than maybe the very beginning and very ending, but overall balanced.

Normal game: 4K UHD 1500FPS Mickey grab a rope: 144p 15fps

Three things: One, being able to render at 1500fps is not a modern "normal" game, That's very high-end hardware running old gen games, and even that's just the theoretical renter time as there is no display that goes at 1500fps, I'm pretty sure 480fps is the fastest. Two, that's technically the sprite placement, not the games actual frame rate. Rather than scroll the sprite they just use a few frames of sprite placement for the animation. Three, the resolution does not change and is always at 320x224 at 60fps. I can tell you're young and don't actually know much about the technical side of games and just know some basics and KZfaq's limited settings. The truth of the matter is 60fps was the norm back then and is only just beginning to be the norm again in modern gaming.

Point taken, if ridiculously exaggerated; took a while for Sega to perfect scrolling in those situations... even Sonic 2 wasn't quite there.
