Fast bouncing around. This is a run of Sonic the Hedgehog which avoids zipping (gaining a large speed boost from being inside terrain), unlike the other run of this game (tasvideos.org/3570M). Therefore, most levels cannot be skipped, and instead have to be traversed using a more normal route, although the author still finds a couple of alternative methods to take shortcuts (it is hard to define hard rules to ban all glitches). In this run, the game is completed without collecting the Chaos Emeralds.
There are also runs where Knuckles (tasvideos.org/2521M) and Tails (tasvideos.org/2514M) they take advantage of their own abilities to finish the game in record time.
This movie has a full Atlas Map encode ( • [TAS] Sega Atlas: Soni... ), which shows a camhack encode overlaid on a zoomed out map.

One of the GDQs a person did it in real time instead of a TAS. I can't remember the runner off-hand. It looks insanely difficult.

Just for you guys wondering. Going through walls while not off camera is not a zip. If you are off camera it’s a zip.

Now this is what I like to see! Runs of full levels. I'm what you'd call a gaming tourist. I like seeing level/world design in its fullest and seeing how game characters interact with those worlds. Zips, glitches, and warps aren't any fun to watch because you skip out on alot of that world design.

My preferences do not align with yours and that is ok! I do like seeing glitches and zips and warps and all that, but runs like this are equally as impressive to me. Glad you enjoyed the video!

7:29 I always find it funny when he attempts to jump into the Special Stage ring and the game immediately cuts to the next act before the Special Stage can appear.

I had no idea the "shortcuts" in GHZ actually slow you down, nor that there was a secret route in Marble Zone Act 3! It still irks me that it's impossible to get that "Under 30 seconds point bonus" in many Sonic 1 levels without outright cheating, but at least I know it's just barely possible to beat GHZ Act 3 in 30 seconds now.

Now this is fun to watch. Thanks whomever did the TAS. Im saying this because there is a garbage Sonic TAS which skips all the game by glitching it, and theres no fun in that.

@@retro3188Understood, but it's cocky for Eggman to say Try Again after he just had his butt handed to him in record time. He should just be handing over the chaos emeralds with an apology instead, then retire and become a bus driver.

neat...not that impressive for TAS, i must say...my favorite part was when he went fast, tho @ 1:41 , 1:50, 9:03 was impressive...

This is how I imagined StH when I bought it. (I had Altered Beast as a pack in instead) This game is a boring big empty nothing as with all sonic games.
