To explain a few things 1. Bumping into the wall sort of "resets" your boost and lets you move at that speed for a longer time. 2. The reason he's only getting C ranks on all of these is because the game uses certain elements to gauge a better rank, including time spent off road and time braking. The TAS does both of these things a lot 3. Sky Garden is possible like that because just kidding I don't have a clue

About the C ranks, he gets rescued by Lakitu A LOT which takes away tons of hidden points and leaves him in the negatives, every time, even with his lap times.

The ranking system also depends on the character you're playing as. Bowser gets you the most points (45) due to being the slowest character while Yoshi gets you the least amount of points (0) due to being the fastest character. Peach & Toad both give you 10 points which is the second lowest amount of character points rewarded.

im not sure if it applies to this game, but in Double Dash the CPUs will go max speed if you’ve already finished the race (easiest to see on Baby Park). maybe that’s what happens here?

@@janposekany5392 the finish line happens to end right there, so when you're inside the wall there you get pushed forwards and backwards over and over again, and each time that happens you go forward and backward over the finish line and get lap counts that way. very fast

Wondering what a TAS is? Lookup TAS in the encyclopedia. 0:18 The numbers (from top to bottom) represent: The current speed, Top speed during normal driving, Mini Turbo Counter, and the current lap. 0:25 The Mini Turbo Counter accumulates while drifting, when it reaches 120 or more the Mini Turbo will be activated, if the drift is stopped then the counter will be reset to 0. 0:35 If the left and right inputs are switched without a 1 frame gap, the drift will continue, so by alternating left and right inputs every frame you can drift even in straight lines. 0:46 The reason why I have been intentionally hitting the wall earlier is to perform a "long boost", which slows the deceleration after a dash and allows you to go above top speed for several more seconds. The box isn’t useful. He doesn’t need it If he grabbed the box by shrooming earlier he would have ticked from the front of the kart instead of from the side completely halting the kart Ticking from the side is better because you don’t come to such a screeching halt. Because of this, grabbing the box is actually slower And also the extra shroom isn’t needed you can also tick with boost panels which he does

oh yeah! maybe, but i think tdrrhhh is right. using shrooms instead would be slightly faster than ticking, but you might not have enough room to just use mushrooms here, you'll need to tick anyways in which case avoiding the item box would be better x_x god im so tired i don't think that made any sense lol

It happens when you press R at the same time as you hit the wall when you boost. It will give you a longer boost for a longer period of time.

@@menantumakawak No. Shroom, zipper boost etc., into the wall with A released and jump. If you hit the wall mid-air (assuming you don't collide with anything that stops you), you will retain the speed boost for a while as long as A button remains released. This technique is called "ticking" and is one of the essential skills for any SC racing in this game.

10 months late and technically this isn't a perfect explanation, but the way lap counters work in MKSC is checking that you've hit certain boundaries before giving you the lap. On the ones where the lap counter instantly maxes out, they've exploited an out of bounds section where every single lap check boundary overlaps at once

@@SinisterPixel i appreciate you trying to help out but it turns out your explanation actually missed completely, you might be mixing up this game with MKW and it's "key checkpoints" because there's nothing like that at all in this game there's no checkpoints or "boundaries" or whatever in this game, to get a lap to count you just need to go around the finish line, very simple. when you're stuck inside this wall it pushes you back and forth over the finish line, which is barely going around the finish line and it counts laps every time this happens im an actual WR holder and TASer in this game, even still it took me many years to actually figure out what's happening here, it's kinda weird

A TAS is meant to showcase the upper limit of what's possible in the game. While no human will ever achieve this luck in their lifetime, there's no line of code preventing you from getting mushrooms over and over so it is possible in theory. RNG manipulation is perfectly valid in a tas for that reason

while the item roulette is going, you can press the item button to stop it early. using TAS you can stop it at the perfect time every time and get exactly the item you want

Nikom 512 The “speed” stat in MKSC actually refers to acceleration. Toad and Peach have highest acceleration (basically identical characters), while Bowser has highest top speed, but worst handling.

The TAS never uses gas for most of the run so top speed doesnt matter if your constantly rolling mushes and wall glitching the speed for extra boost time.

Drifting in this game is fucking weird. It's based on the time you spend drifting but there is no indicator that you're going to get it... until you get the blue boost from your exhaust.

if it looks like the thwomps are disappearing, it's purely visual. the game has to store memory if you mean in the retro SNES BC2, the devs just didn't add the thwomps into those tracks at all

Eh, at least Cheep Cheep Island and Vanilla Lake 2 are a mess. Those are my other favourite tracks in this game.
