This is the fourth in a series of Hudson's Adventure Island games. It was only released in Japan as Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima 4. Unlike the first three games in the series, the gameplay behaves more like Metroid, where you explore the world freely, you collect items (and dinosaur helpers) to gain new abilities, and the ending is triggered by defeating all the bosses. Also, there is no timer, and the hero can survive more than one hit, using fruits to replenish his health.
This is an improvement of 1047 frames over the previous run of this game. For more details, read the submission comments (tasvideos.org/5345s).

It’s a bug actually. I recommend watching the run on games done quick. The runner explains what’s going on in the game. :)

7:23 Don't want to be rude and call it a BS, but how do you get a J (Jump) Power - not just without the Rabbit challenge, but also without even being to a location where it's acquired? Unless some severely brutal ancient magic is used here, I'm not convinced that the related segment is not cut out of the video.
