Tank Racer is a racing game developed by Glass Ghost and published by Grolier Interactive in 1999. In this game, tanks are racing against each other on various tracks, going from a village to a theme park, for instance. There are various power-ups scattered along the track, allowing the racer to get a speed boost or shielding themselves from enemy attacks, for instance.

HOLY SHIT! I remember this game! This brings back so many memories. Couldn't get 1st places in the Silver cup since the leading tanks are so dead-accurate with their aim and will always mess up your driving if they get the right power-ups before you do. lawl One of the best PS1 games we had.

This is one of the weirder racers I've seen but I do love those old weird ps1 games. For some reason the ps1 and pc had tons of weird racing games around this time. Oh lord, that ending cgi cutscene is perfect.

With a lot of TASes, I'll put them on at bedtime as I fall to sleep. The nostalgic arcadey bleeps and bloops soothe me. I stopped watching after a few minutes, put on my headphones, and listened to the music and chaos until I dozed off. No lie, 10/10, love this TAS. It's genuine ASMR I can sleep to.

You know a well known retro series starring a guy in a tank that would also make for a good kart racer? The Blaster Master series. Seriously. The vehicles have wheels. Making a racing game seems like a no-brainer.

There aren't really many characters that drive SOPHIA-adjacent vehicles in the series that I'm aware of that would honestly make this truly feasible, but I do like the concept!

Tank racing sounds like such a terrible concept, but here it is proving to actually be a pretty good game idea. With most good games the key to being fun is actually less realism instead of more. I have no idea how this game looks in a casual play, but as a TAS it's pretty wild.

I just can't understand why they'd make a game where half the concept is caterpillar treads and then not even gesture towards the reality of how those treads function. it feels like the racing equivalent of watching a character move by sliding around on the soles of their feet? I think there are plenty of ways to make it look credible without changing the feel of driving too much, also.

The game itself looks pretty neat, but the music... I dunno. I mean, I like some techno here and there, but what's in this game just doesn't sound very good or very fitting.

It looks fun, I hate the music. Sounds like it was made with Sonic Foundry ACID, that stupid program was the reason for all the generic craptastic music in so many video games of the 90's and early 2000's
