Celeste.smc ( www.smwcentral.net/?p=section... ) is a Celeste-inspired Kaizo SMW ROM hack made by MarkAlarm in 2022. A love letter to both Celeste and Super Mario World, it incorporates a lot of elements from the former into the latter, including dashing, berries, dash crystals and crystal hearts. As a Kaizo ROM hack, the stages featured are very challenging.
Suru486 ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/S... ) completes every level in this ROM hack whilst collecting every berry and crystal heart in the process.

I like how the music switches to the B-side music from Celestial Resort onwards, just as an indicator of how hard the game gets

I suspect it might also be related to ease of implementation. A lot of the A-Side themes from then on have a bunch of adaptive audio layers that shift in and out and make it so there isn't really a singular "correct" version that could be easily translated to something Super Mario World's audio engine understands. Summit and Core use the A-Side versions here, but Summit only has the 3000m variation (the one that plays at the actual summit) and Core seems to have an adapted version that just slowly introduces the layers at specific times.

@@pikksen7905 The main reason for deciding between A vs B side tracks was mostly for how easy or not it was to port the music. Some songs were easier than others (or may have already been ported, like 5B). Also adaptive music was done by simply muting certain channels at the start of a level and unmuting them as progress was made. Any songs where it was "easy" to do that (for example, the wind in 4) made that side favorable over another. Only main exception was having 6A and 6B, mainly because it's the longest level in the game due to how long the badeline fight is. I just loved 6B too much to not have it in and be, effectively, the boss fight music. (I was attemping to answer to both comments at once with this reply, sorry this reply sounds a bit weird).

I had no idea this existed. Honestly two of the greatest speedrun games of all time coming together like this? This is spectacular. I'm barely a minute in to the TAS and I'm already in love with the quality and the attention to detail... Cannot wait to attempt this, myself!

I see the last few stages and I can't help but snicker to myself... If it were a normal Mario game, you'd be doing all these insane manoeuvers to the boring old Athletic theme. "Climax? What's that?!" xD I think I'd rather just keel over and die than experience that, though.

Didn't this romhack get uploaded like awhile ago? Man its cool as hell seeing SMW rom hacks evolve over the past 2ish decades especially since 2012. Even cooler seeing TAS's of all these neat/insane romhacks.

I don't like that game, even though it's Mario's character. That game with celeste always seemed disgusting to me. I have never played it and I will never play it. I am a gamer from the 80s, I grew up with the pixel and games with a lot of challenge, but I dislike that game. I didn't finish watching the video, it made me sick
