what actually is Tasbot , and how does it run the game?

@@marcthomas4488 TASbot is the Tool Assisted Speedrun mascot, basically. A Tool Assisted Speedrun is a speedrun where the runner, instead of going through the game with years of practice and frame perfect tricks that require endless resets to get right, instead uses a computer program to go through a game literally frame by frame and input commands into an executable file that, when run, will play those commands again in order. Since a Tool Assisted Speedrun isn't played by a human in realtime, it allows for some ridiculous input combinations, which allows TASBot users to do things that abuse a game's engine and coding to the limit in ways human players never could. So when they're talking about a route not being RTA viable, they're saying 'no human player can pull this route off because of the input timings required. Or to put it a simpler way: They use a program to script a literal frame perfect run, and then TASbot is the program that plays that frame perfect script. Obviously, TAS runs are their own separate category of speedrunning from normal runs, since it's not a contest of gaming skill but instead a contest to find the exact optimized route over an entire game.

@@marcthomas4488 TASbot itself is the robot on the table next to me, it's just holding a controller which shows what buttons are being pressed in the game. A TAS (Tool-Assisted Speedrun) is a sequence of inputs (for example, press right, down, and A for 14 frames, then right and B for one) which can be replayed in the game. In Celeste, we can do things like pause/frame advance the game, as well as watch variables like Madeline's speed, to make it easier to make this sequence of inputs.

The current record no-assist any% TAS is 23:32, and the current record assist mode RTA run is 22:16. So yes, a top runner with assist mode will beat a regular any% TAS.

Assist mode ARB currently does not beat this tas in IGT.

It's impossible, without knowing what room to go to it would be a lot of exploration and figuring out where to go. That said, on a room by room basis, it would be nuts, and logically completely possible
