I think the possibility, that Zoro saw the fight of his father is really high, because until he meets Luffy, he has a strong hatred for pirates

Although I like the Mihawk killed Zoro's father theory, it doesn't make sense as it would've already been a reason to make him want to be the best. The Kuina flashback makes him want to be the best through a motive bigger than revenge, to carry his friend's will and make her achieve her dream through him, with her sword representing her. Her storyline makes Zoro never achieve his chilhood goal: to actually be better than her

Imagine Zoro loses to Mihawk (due to the emotional attachment) who is subsequently slain by Ethan and then has to face off for the title of Sword God.

What if Kuina just died before her eyesight worsened. Poor eyesight can be genetic so there is no telling if Kuina would have needed glasses when she got older.

When zoro said it was his first time using a sword he was referring to a real sword. Prior he had only used practice swords

Just an idea, as I have no proof, but there is one more pirate I can think of that matches the main qualities of Zoro's fathers killer. Shanks? He was Mihawks Rival, so being Rival to the world's strongest swordsman puts him at a similar level. And even on introduction, Shanks is a pirate that kills people (though I'm less inclined to believe he would kill innocents). It would be crazy tho if upon reuniting with Shanks, Zoro shocks everyone by recognizing him as the pirate that killed his father in battle.

Ethanbaron is part of the gorosei, he's considered a god, above the world of lowly people. Zoro will achieve his dream and become the strongest swordsman in the world, and then goes on to the secret final boss, to become the sword god. That way the climactic zoro vs mihawk battle doesnt lose meaning with this relevation
