In my middle school once a year we did a thing called "Taste of Nations" its kinda self explanatory but basically everyone would make a meal from different countries around the world and share their cultural differences. I remember doing that in elementary school too, it was awesome! Works better in a country where almost everyone is descended from immigrants (like mine, which is Canada). But I did go to school with a few First Nations kids (Oneida and Cree) and it was so cool to taste traditional Canadian food, like the stuff they were eating here 800 years ago! We had fry bread, a stew a mom made using the "three sisters" (corn, squash and beans), and then this fish dish that I don't know the name of- all delicious! One kid had parents from Lebanon, and his mom brought stuffed grape leaves that I still think about to this day. I'm Mennonite, so my mom made roll kuchen (basically strips of fried dough) with watermelon and watermelon syrup 😋
