It surprised me you didnt include any Argentinian wine in the recommendations, last week I had a 12 USD catena zapata malbec that was really good. Also last night I had an amazing cremant d'alsace that I bought this year in Chile for 18 USD, extremelly good and over delivered for its Price.

Wish I could find Catena for that cheap! I think even with 12 wines, it's hard to be comprehensive - in the top 100 video Matt waxed poetic about Malbec (which made us happy since it's my SO's favorite!)

Best value red wine I've had: Emmanuel Darnaud Crozes-Hermitage "Mis en bouche" 2016, 12.80€!! Rhône in general offers good value. I also had a delicious Etna rosso by Benanti, which cost ~16-17€. Just for the shock factor, I'll recommend a Burgundy(!): Chateau de Cheilly Santenay Vielles Vignes 2016, I paid 19€.

Great video! I love these types of videos. These are exactly the types of wines I'd be wanting to try to push in my retail setting for the average customer. Of course in my state the availability of some of these might be a bit iffy. But I still love learning about these. It's been a while since I've had Borsao but I remember it being a nice wine for that price point. I've not had or seen the Rioja Vega. But a brand of Rioja wine I've had a lot of success with is Bodegas LAN. I've turned a number of customers onto their Crianza and it's become one of the top selling foreign wines in the store. I'm not sure if it might be a bit too oaky for your taste. But I think it comes across pretty nicely for the price point I have, under $15.

I'm someone that's gone hardcore scotch/whisky/whiskey as my evening drink of choice. But I love watching your video's especially when I'm learning about bottles that cost $18 or less as I see that price point as being equivalent to a $60 bottle of whisky in terms of "cost of a standard pour."

Really cool lineup, interesting to see which American wines are considered good values for someone who lives in the states, as the entry-level wines usually have such a big tax hit on them that they lose their value proposition once they hit the Norwegian market. Extremely interesting to hear your comparison between the Valpolicella and a Sonoma Pinot Noir! I've found the exact same similarity in a couple Valpolicella wines, especially a Ripasso from Monte del Frà.

So many great wines under 25 dollars, if you live in Europe is even better. My favorite regions for reds under 25 are Languedoc Roussillon, Terra Alta, Bierzo, Dão, Chinon, Alentejo, Etna rosso, Naoussa Xinomavro.

I love finding great values!! My favorite under $25 red wines were the 2019 Art of Earth Malbec from Mendoza (enjoyed at $8.99 and $10.99) and 2019 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($21.97 discounted to under $14!). The former was an amazing value organic unoaked red with multiple broad categories of flavors/aromas. It paired extremely well with steaks and homemade Korean barbecue! In terms of most memorable red wines ever, this is top 4 in my book by (the others are fancier Napa cabs and a merlot). In terms of the latter, it clearly outperformed its price point as a more serious wine: delicately oaked, red+dark fruit, and autumnal aromas! beat a pretty solid entry-level Napa Cabernet (2018 BV Napa) thanks to complexity and more subtle oak aging. It paired spectacularly with a Outside Skirt Steak!

The Esporão Colheita is absurdly good for the price. I had some at a Portuguese food event at a Central Market and it was a 92-point wine for me - like a well-made $50 Napa Cab but about $20 instead.

Just watched your video - so nice to see a tasting of pretty affordable wines, thx! I'm from Austria and there are pretty good reds like Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt where you really heading to high end wines from 20-25 euros but these are not easily available in the states. But what I tasted recently and was very impressed from was the Lopez de Heredia Viña Cubillo Crianza from Rioja. Around 16 Euros, fairly available in Austria and Germany and great value for money from my view. What do you think?

Good evening doc. Tenuta Sant'Antonio is a winery that i reccomend to everybody , it does'nt matter if you drink the basic Valpolicella or the best Amarone selection the quality is just over the top, to me the Scaia Paradiso is one of the best quality price red wine available in Italy not just in the Valpolicella area, try to believe . I was now on the online shop and the price is 13.90 euros here in Italy, mmmmmm i just order a case of six now is almost christmas time and this wine will be just perfect in some of the next dinners. Cheers everybody. P.S. all the Scaia selection wines got an incredible value for money.

:D i don't even start the video and i saw a bottle of borsao tres picos, garnacha from campo de borja i prefer their syrah called (zarihs) pretty good value (we buy tres picos for less than 10€ their zarihs its about 14€). And I love your pronunciation very good spanish. Borsao really good quality value but i prefer bodegas ponce from manchuela you can try their clos lojen (bobal 7,90€) or their La Xara (Garnacha 9,90€). So you prefer more fresh type of wine? When i read in a description a wine are fresh i run away from it because here when they say more fresh it's less concentrate (more watery) and more acid.... i like more dark type of flavours but my favourite this year was Dominio de Calogia Cuvee S and for me that are pristine red fruit of gods and i love viña ardanza too.

I would love to have easy Access to Oregon pinot noir wines but In Portugal you dont get them easily. On the affordable wines and Portugal for 25€ you get already alot of quality wines, though I usually prefer a bit Higher end wines. I mean with 10/15 euros plus you start to enter on great wine territory. Drink less but better....my motto.
