Tata Punch EV Review - Key Points
- The car surprised me on the off-road track, performing well despite being a ‘front-wheel-drive) vehicle with 190 mm ground clearance and over 300 mm water wading capacity.
- The obstacles were designed to mirror actual Indian road conditions and challenges.
- Punch demonstrated superb stability, precise braking, and effective control during my test drive. The steering, slightly heavier than the Nexon EV, adds a sense of ease and agility for daily driving.
- The 'empowered' variant stands out with its well-designed glass area, thoughtful choice of interior colors, and spacious, supportive seats, providing a premium feel. However, the 'Adventure' variant lacks that elevated touch.
- Starting with a 99% battery and a 297 km range, I returned after a 50-60 km drive with 88% battery and a boosted 320 km range, even with the AC running! 😄
- The top variant provides great value for money with its extensive convenience and safety features. Consider the ‘Empowered Plus’ variant if you plan to keep the car for 7-8 years.
- The ‘Adventure’ variant is a good choice for cost-effective short city trips, especially if you have another primary car, and it comes equipped with 6 airbags.
- It does give the impression of being a segment lower than the Nexon in terms of overall quality and feel. Noteworthy omissions include rear AC vents and a spare wheel. Additionally, the 7.3kW AC charger comes at an extra cost. I've conveyed this feedback to Tata officials.
Note: Tata covered all travel, stay, and food expenses for the drive event. My feedback reflects my perspective as a potential customer rather than an auto journalist.

With 6 airbags being standard across many manufacturers, VW/Skoda has a peer pressure to provide the same. Then, highline/ambition will be my pick for most value for money variant.

Can you ask company official - if EV car had an accident and battery damaged, leaked, or broken in pieced then - What will happen ??? There are many video in KZfaq that Tesla and BYD cars have got fire while in charging or in parking…….No KZfaqR ask this type of question so far, so DO YOU ????

TATA Should combine the lower power motor 80bhp with the higher Battery pack 35kWh to increase the practical range. It will reduce cost also. No need for that much power & torque in city conditions. Customers will like that combination.

I took a TD few days back. Everything was fine, except the issue of left knee brushing the center console uncomfortably. I am 5ft 8 inch. Taller people will have to face more inconvenience. I have a petrol AMT Punch, but there is no such issue. Had you experienced the same problem?

agar company 421km claim karti he to utna range milna hi chahiye. Costomer experiment ke liye thodi he. Aur market me tat se jyada achhi gadi he to tata ko apna standard improve karna padega na. Safety hi agar ek factor le ke chaloge to lohe ke dibbe me baitho. Baki features, structure,fit Nd finish bhi kuch raheti he.

I always have this concern regarding the ev segment. What will be the cost of replacing battery after 8 years? If the price goes down to 3-4 lacs (considering a lot of people start buying ev ) , it still will be a big dent to the pocket considering the fact we are paying extra premium when we bought the ev. Other concern are also going to be there like the resale value or the push to ev infrastructure. What are your views Sunderdeep ji regarding this? (Kindly cover this topic in a video too)

does your phone's lithium battery malfunction or become unusable after the one-year warranty period of the phone? this is just a rumor that it won't work after the warranty period. IC engines are more likely to suffer a breakdown in an 8-10-year period compared to EV cars.

Lifepo4 battery ev grade has 5000-6000 charge cycles before it depletes 15-20 percent of battery Considering 300km per charge. 300*5000 = 1.5 lakh km. Tata very well knows lithium can do 1.5 lakh For an avg user by the time they complete 1.5 lakh km it would have been used for atleast 6-8 years. But for a person who travels more than 100km daily. He will find himself bit difficult. As he will hit 1.6 lakh km mark in ODO before 8 years. In that case warranty wont be honoured. As of today ev grade 1kw costs 15-16k So a 35kw battery after replacing old 35kw may cost 5 lakhs. Considering the reduction in prices it may go down by 20-30 percent in the next 5 years. At best you'll get same battery for 3-3.5 lakhs. On more point to be noted. Motor warranty...tata used to give 8 years motor warranty. Not sure they reduced to 3 years or still giving 8 years..

Compare punch ev 2nd base with ICE adventure rhythm. Diff of 4 lks. But more features, better safety, new design, automatic, instant power delivery, peak refinement(NVH), lesser RTO charges. On top of it all, way cheaper fuel expenses for life. Tell us now, which makes more sense?

Comet is an excellent car esp for 2 persons imho! A proper EV. However, using 2nd row seats and no fast charging option are some drawbacks.

Obviously Tata is charging premium for first mover advantage otherwise it should be cheaper by 1 -1.5L Adventure variant LR is mfv variant but still lacks basic features like reverse camera Even in top varian you have to pay additional 1L for sunroof and Fast charges.

Yes you can prefer any old Maruti car with 1.3 mjd or an Etios / Liva.

Paaji don't you think that most of the people who need secondary vehicle always opt for a car which is small in size and in 5-8 lac segment?? So how come this 15 lacs ev become a secondary choice?? I mean i can understand if people buy tiago ev but this one?? Don't you think it's a bit overpriced as a secondary car?

Brother, remember each customer is different & some would find shortcomings in Tiago as a hatchback, lesser safe, low range & no fast charging available. Very less safety features too. Anyone who drives 60-80 km in a big City & travels to a modern office would find top variant as a great value considering the feel good factor(s).

Avg indian perspective. Rather buying punch ev I could buy SUV like Hector or Harrier or Creta in the same price. But no one knows the value of Micro SUV EV ..it saves space but more powerful than a harrier or creta or hector petrol version. Its like a sports car Also 35Kw Battery in 13 lakh price point is first of its kind. For EV enthusiastic who knows how to drive EV's . Will easily get 350-370km range

Actual range for LR is around 250-270km which is unexpectedly lower than the claimed 421km. Not worth the money.

ID4 and enyaq have been caught testing It would be good competition to Ioniq 5 as we have very few options in 30L-50L segment

Bekwaas gaadi campany. Dont know if it breakdown in middle of road. Third class software infotainment system, Tata thrown features like crazy but really dont know in long run will it work properly. Worst steering ever from Tata, i believe the old ones still looks great to me. Tata fanboys ap na ghamand de khar the hai, build quality ka gaana!!? If i had 8-10L i would rather buy Abarth Punto/Ford Figo/VW Polo GT
