Tata Steel CEO's first look at proposed location for Port Talbot EAF

Күн бұрынGlobal CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, TV Narendran, has recently visited Port Talbot steelworks to see the proposed location of a new 3.2 million tonne electric arc furnace, which will be part of the jointly funded low-CO2 steelmaking investment by Tata Steel and the UK Government as well as visiting and talking with the teams who are working hard to make it happen.

So have you spoken to any contractors who play and integral part in the day to day running of the works for decades ??👌 and will we also get the same redundancy package as the tata personel??

The electric ark furnace will not happen the cost of electricity in the UK is to high twice the cost of electricity in Spain

Blast Furnaces are a dying process EA Furnaces are faster cleaner & don't need trainloads of minerals to produce steel Brymbo Steelworks in Wrexham had them in the 70s & European steel companies are going the same way

I really don't think so, take a look at the rest of the world's iron and steel production. And THAT'S not accomplished by melting scrap in an electric arc furnace!! 2,022 World Steel Production = 1.9 billion tons. By country. China 1,000 million. India 140 million. Japan 86 million. USA 80 million Russia 75 million. South Korea 66 million. UK = 6 million. { Vietnam 19 million. Mexico 16 million. Egypt 10 million. } Reference China, India, Japan et. al. You'd need quite a large amount of scrap for that tonnage!!
