Bought Tatsu yesterday, and you'll be happy to know that they've changed the packaging and it works quite nicely now. Great game too!

I love it! I was a backgammon pro for years! I think the solution for the box would be to find a 12" X 12" 'dice bag' material type of bag. One with a drawstring and those spring-loaded snaps to tighten it at the mouth of the bag. That would solve that! Or make a bag like they did with Hive. It looks like a 12" radius zipper bag.

That would work great but you still have to deal with the board. So I guess a nice bag and a box that fits the bag and the board? Another thing to buy that you generally expect to come with the game, heh.

I was thinking of making a travel version with the board screen printed onto a drawstring style dice bag that I can lay flat and use as the game board. use either the included tokens or make my own using colored gems.

Cool. They also have a digital version of this on steam now. But I think, now I know what it is I might look for a physical copy of the actual board game.

I agreed totally Zee! My wife and I adore this game and have played it a ludicrous amount of times since we got it at the UKGE, but the box is appalling. Such a shame.

I'd buy it if they gave it the Hive Pocket treatment. The board could be a cloth mat.

I played this game several times but I didn't like it much because the game drags on and on if one of the players (or both) plays a bit defensively.

What about runaway leader problems? Also, does the game suffer when both players are down to a small amount of pieces? or does it rarely happen?

The box/packaging for Hive editions was the same, useless. Thankfully it came with a bag/travel pouch!

Strange...the Japanese on the board doesn't quite make sense, but it's either saying "Dying body" or "I want to die". Cheerful.

Ah, I think they wanted just 死体 and tried to get more fancy with it and made it strange. I think the other problem with the box is that you're going to look like the sort of person who walks around telling people that you study ninjutsu and has a car with dragon motifs down the side. I like backgammon, but I don't think I'd go near this game just on the basis of the look.

the only choice we thought about, a fast we end the game , I love abstract Games, but Tatsu was 10 of 10 on the Boring scale. If you have a lazy Sunday, paint a black spot an a Wall and watch it, same excitement :)

For me, Tatsu was an impulse buy because it was going for cheap and the display box just looked gorgeous. I of course met the same issues with the box as soon as I got home. It's flimsy as anything.

Think Zee has hit the nail right on the head here; superb game but the box is absolutely awful. I've rated it an 8/10 on BGG - would have been higher if it weren't for the box. A really, really disappointing oversight but still have to second the recommendation here.

For my taste, the graphic design and colour scheme of the board is atrocious. As for the game-play - I'm sure it "works", but attempts at competing with backgammon, the best game ever designed, are generally ill-advised (being futile). Huge pass for me (and I do like "Hive").

Zee's worst review. I have this game. Entirely random, roll-to-move nonsense. Terrible.

Awesome Super Unfortunately this is what I found out as well. The game is “can you roll this exact number on 2 dice NOW?”. If you can, you win. Unfortunately strategy amd plans are pointless here.
