Have you heard about the ink ban in Europe? After seeing some conflicting information online, I talk to Selina Medina about what is really going on. What does it mean for tattooers? Will the US follow suit and start regulating tattoo pigment?
Check out the resources that Selina shared with me HERE (lobster-sponge.squarespace.co...)

Do you know Fred Durst? Let him know that I'd love to interview him for the show.

I think your best bet getting in touch with Fred durst is thru TikTok. He still has a very small following on there so you’d be easily noticed if you bugged him and he actually posts personal videos of himself on there so he’s in touch. Try it!

This stuff is true , you can research the hazards for yourself . SDS sheets explaining hazards with different exposures, some examples are genetic mutation (DNA Damage) eventually causing cancer, Inflammation problems, tissue damage. Organ failure also organ mutation of functions . Some really scary stuff if enough tattoo ink reaches your blood .

I question how many people know about this. I got my tattoo (luckily not a big one) when i was in my 20s but i never gave it any second thought until i got older and did some research on this stuff … if truly baffles me that this wasn’t even regulated… they basically could trow in anything in those inks. That’s crazy if you know how many people are exposed to these substances…

Finally I find out a little more about what it all is about. I saw so many articles and videos from people saying there was an issue but not saying what the issue was. Also, do you have any books closed stickers?!

The ending "Buy from manufacturers"... Seems to me like this is something used to once again screw up the little guy, eliminate competition and big manufacturers and big corp stay on top. But hey, who am i to say this? I'm just a "non-informed" conspiracy random guy on the internet.

This is very hot topic in Europe now and everyone is posting and sharing petition and it is less than week to go before some decisions will be made. Many refer to this video as explanation and it really does not touch on what is wrong on pigment itself - I was hoping for more info on that. We had recent hygiene course in Denmark and doctor who run it mentioned this subject - apparently there are not many options for pigments for blue and green and there are something like 3 options for each and 2 of them are banned already and there is one left which is being looked at and it not made for to put in skin and is considered somewhat toxic or something along them lines. It is made for printing industry. From what doctor said that it is unlikely that it will pass through and at the moment there are no alternative. Which most likely means that it might become one of products that are not allowed to be used in tattooing - same doctor mentioned that it might be possible to buy it just don't use it in professional setting kind of a thing. My previous comment didn't make sense and I feel bad now 😬 so I deleted it.

Yeah! I was also looking forward to more scientific - toxicology/chemistry breakdown. As they talked I catched 1.problem to analyse ink in general - although I work with analytical machines and practicaly any compound can be analysed by methods like nuclear magnetic resonance or mass spectrometry. Especially heavy metals. But I could be wrong. 2. Maybe it is hard to reproduce interactions of non-toxic pigment with our immune system/body? S 3. Speaking of pigment green 7. As I was looking to this compound it is phtalocyanine - like four isoindole chlorinated rings + copper bound in the centre. Is that whole compound a risk or other preservatives/surfactancs which are required for best application for this particular pigment? So many questions. Hopefully somebody can break down what compound is the harmful one

Are there any good resources/compiled lists of ink manufacturers that have good testing processes and quality assurance/careful ingredient sourcing? As someone who regularly gets tattoos, I’d find it much easier to ask an artist about the brands they’re using than asking to see each bottle/check the labels of every bottle they pull out to use.

Question; do the Japanese tattooers with their tabori methods use different kinds of ink? I saw them like prepare everything themselves…

I do get that tattoo artist complain about regulation’s but I question why they seem not concerned about the potentiality that their artwork might damage their clients health… 🤷

As soon as we add non carbon particles it's a wash. My friend Shawn always says, "this isn't health food". The hard part is getting a new crop of clients to understand the ramifications

I’m not trying to be a d$&@ but, a few years back the same owner of this pigment company spouted similar claims of his prior pigment company claiming artists needed to use single use inks. I believe they were called one shots. I could be wrong but I remember the company trying to pass local legislation demanding use of only that companies pigment. I’m all for using safe products but sure seems like the same stuff to me.

@@corygene6477 I thought I was remembering wrong for a second. I remember all the insane names of the pigment when I first started tattooing in 2002. Power white, blue balls, monthly red .... then sponsor a bill in ny trying to ban ink caps and be the sole company that sells these new “super safe” one use packets that are more expensive and worse quality. And I believe the same argument about Europe was being used.
