This revolver, in stainless, is the last firearm my Dad passed on to me before he died. It has never failed and I’ll treasure it till I pass it on to my sons. Definitely a very good gun! Great review, Sir!

I recently got the 4-inch version of this. I love the way it feels in my hands. Nice balance, and it shoots great.

There is nothing wrong with Taurus firearms. They are one of the best values on todays gun market. In the early 80's I purchased a custom built Colt 1911. I bought the gun used from a gun writer who had wrote an article about it. In the early years of this century I bought a Taurus PT 1911. It was the only factory 1911 I've had my hands on that equaled that custom built Colt in feel and performance.

Gotta admit Taurus did make improvements on their firearms getting better and better with the price and value

I've got a 6inch stainless that I got for 350 a couple years ago. I like it a lot. It may not have the fit and finish of the pricier options, but it's really good at the price point. Affordable options are important for a healthy market, not everyone can afford a 900 dollar 686+.

I found one at Vance Outdoors in Columbus, Ohio in the 4 inch version for only 500 bucks! I can’t get over how dang powerful the gun is!

Taurus seems like an odds on favorite for hate from the gun community sometimes, and I'm not sure why. I ended up inheriting a couple of their .357 magnum revolvers and a PT92, all three of which were originally bought in the late 1980s or early 1990s. I've yet to encounter any issues with them. Nice guns to have in the collection.

I bought my Taurus M66 .357 6 shot w/a 6"barrel back in 1980. That's 43 yrs of reliability. It have no issues at all. I stop counting at 2000 rounds shot. I know, I shot more than that, it's also my primary carry. This gun have save my life, my Family, friends, and even a neighbor on several occasions. I would never give this gun up not even to my son.

When I was a gang member in the 90's . I use to pack a 357 s and w. As I got older I always been a fan of 357 S&W magnum . Until I bought this Model 66 Taurus 357 magnum. I was sceptical... But I did my homework on a Taurus 357 and a Bulldog mini 44. The used 44 compare to a new 357 Taurus. I bought the Taurus . And loved it ever since. ❤ A big comparison to S&W..

Just got one today very pleased with the way it feels in my hand and the way it shoots very accurate.

I had one back in around 1990-1991 and loved it. Accurate and smooth and easy to clean. I had one in Nickel.

I picked up the 627 tracker. It has been a great firearm. For the price point, it is a work horse. Not a collector item. I'm not ever going to get rid of this one. It's one of my favorite hand gun I own.

People may not know that in the 70's or so S&W was one of the Parent Companies that owned Taurus. They made revolvers for S&W. Even though Taurus had some tough times it wasn't with their revolvers or PT 92. Best to ya',,,,!

I recently bought this exact gun but in the silver color. Just put the first 50 rounds through it this past weekend. It was super accurate and comfortable. Had no problem hitting a target from 30 yards away.

I got a Taurus Model 66 6in barrel. I absolutely love it, I conceal carry it everyday in a 5.11 4 banger sling bag.

This is what I’m choosing for my first revolver ! I want something accurate but not too bulky. I want to buy it to put a lot of rounds through it, I will take it camping out in the middle of no where when I’m alone. Lots of black bears and mountain lions where I live and I don’t feel comfortable with just my 9mm. I feel very confident in buying this gun. I think it will be reliable, I trust it. I’ve owned one other Taurus, it was a great gun too ! never had a single issue with it… i like cheaper firearms , that way I have more to choose from in my collection. I like owning as many different calibers as possible. I’m only 23 and I only have 5 guns so far but one day I will have 100.

I alternate between the Taurus 66 and the TISAS 1911 chambered in 9mm as daily carry. I open carry both.

I’m partial to Taurus revolvers. My Dad always carried an old M85 snub nose. That thing was so smooth from shooting, he likely put thousands of rounds through that gun. I have it in my safe now, and I have always picked up older blued Taurus revolvers when I come across a good deal. It’s a weird little collection of revolvers most people wouldn’t bother to collect. I love them because when I look at them I think of my Dad. I put Galloway Precision spring kits in them and they shoot excellent. Never had a problem with any Taurus revolver I’ve owned.

Taurus has really upped their game in the last few years. When it comes to revolvers IMO they can run with the Big Dogs!! All you have to do is look at the price increases and very limitability on some models. If some of yall didn't know Taurus actually bought a Beretta plant, lock stock and barrel (pun intended) so they have the same tooling, materials and designs and are getting exponentially better using them. Taurus revolver, I buy em' when I see em' and i love em' We can talk semi-auto's later lol. Great video!

I got a Taurus 66 in 1991 and have gotten three more of there revolvers, I have had Very good luck with them.

im glad you said, " you never had a deer laugh at you...." I always thought the same thing. All bullets hurt. They could be coming from a Hi-Point, you still don't want to get hit.

I love mine with the 4 inch barrel in brushed stainless so it's not a finger print magnet. I have a Fobus paddle holster, and Barsony belt clip holster, and a shoulder holster for it which gives me many options for carry. I carry two speed loaders in a belt case and keep another just to stick in a coat pocket if I just have to run outside at night.

Props for speaking truth… first, I don’t own a Taurus of any flavor but you’re exactly right man it’s not about cost… it’s about what works. If it works its a good gun. I’ve been looking at the model 66 pretty hard lately, thanks for the review.

Got T66 4'' , good thing about Taurus is price and good qualit. I treat all my guns same way as my Dewalt tools. Keep rain away / clean once a year / do the job they both suppose to do without a hickup or failure.

I had to send my first one back to Taurus because the breech face of the barrel that butts up to the cylinder split but I think it was some hot reloads that caused the damage. Taurus replaced it with a brand new one because barrels were on back order. Plus speedbeez makes a fast draw kydex comp holster for it.

I bought that same pistol brand new from GunBroker three years ago. Had it sent to my local FFL and forgot all about it. I didn't remember until this week after watching this video. I went to the firearms dealer and by damned it was still there in a dust covered package with my name on it. I picked it up lol.

Colts and Smith 'n' Wessons are too expensive to justify purchase. As you say, the working man needs a less luxury revolver. The 6" stainless M66 was my first revolver and Taurus firearm. 7 shots, smooth double action, featherlight single action. I only substituted Pachmayr Decelerator grips. Got a Taurus Thunderbolt to be its .357 rifle companion, but I soon sent it back for repairs. Taurus instead offered me an equal value replacement of my choice. Got a stainless PT92 and it together with the M66 have been durable and consistent performers over the years.

Tarus is a great gun just like any other Manufacture they have their great guns and not so Great guns thanks to tarus for making affordable home protection

Ive got a 4.5" Model 66 and it kicks ass. Super accurate, NEVER had one problem over the course of a few hundred rounds fired...I don't know what you could get that compares for the $400 i paid for it! Maybe a half of a S&W??

I own several Taurus handguns and all are excellent. Yesterday, I bought a new Taurus M66, stainless steel, .357, 6" barrel and it came with hardwood laminated camo grips and a set of rubber grips for under $500.00! It will go afield next deer season.

Honestly, I prefer guns sold in a cardboard box, rather than a cheap plastic case. Last thing I want is to relegate storage space for dozens of cheap empty plastic cases I can’t get rid of, and don’t keep my guns in…

Surprisingly taurus has a great customer service number. I called them today because I bought a model 66 but it is a 6 shot and they list it as a 7 shot on their website. Taurus even told me the date of manufacture. This one happened to be 1988. Wood grip, 6 inch, and blued. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Got one back in the day, wood, blue, 6 shot. 100$ and it was mostly mint. Probably 2008? Maybe 2005? So sad I traded it way. Even worse the guy traded it away soon after and he was supposed to give me first option and he didn’t. So it’s gone. Biggest regret gun trading.

I’m 60 and wanted a Colt all my life and finally traded my Ruger that shot ok but not fantastic for a King Cobra Target and I was so happy until I shot it. It shoots patterns at 10 yards and rear sight is loose. I wish I would’ve traded for Taurus! All I see are good reviews for them!

I have a 4" black version and love it. In fact everyone that shoots it likes it. Even revolver snobs give it props. It has been 100% reliable through I don't even know how many rounds of everything from standard FMJ .38 special to .38 special +P HST and hot .357 magnum loads at 1600 fps. It's a joy to shoot with even the hot .357 magnum loads. The only thing I would change would be to have a front night sight option.

The Taurus 66 is a copy of the S&W 686. The modern Taurus guns are made with cutting edge CNC mills and are high quality firearms. The cost savings comes from the lack of polishing which takes a lot of man hours.

ln 1990 got a New in the box Taurus model 66 .357 6 in barrel Nickle finish and 200 rounds of 158 gr jacket hollow points for $200 ... BEST gun show l was ever at and they have all gone down hill sense ...

My grandfather got me the 4 inch and it’s one of my favorite to take shooting. I just wouldn’t carry because of a preference to carrying smaller.

the S&W is a bit better, but Taurus quality is plenty good enough. kind of like getting a B+ instead of an A. i think id prefer a smith, but the cost isnt justified for me.

I just got a model 66 4 inch . Having issues with extrating shell s after shooting....... It's disappointing so far but shoots well. If you can get shells out.......

My aunt's neighbor needed money to fix his truck, so I bought his Taurus 66 for 300.00. It is the 6 inch barrel and is blued (major fingerprint magnet). I'll probably sell it on to a friend who had to sell his .357 several years ago to pay his bills and keeps talking about wanting another one.

Manurhin MR73 or Korth Mongoose not exactly the same budgetory location as a Taurus M66? haha I'd say a good middle ground is Ruger GP100 or S&W 686+ or Colt King Cobra. Perhaps a notch up would be Kimber K6S. Rossi, Taurus, RIA, Windicator, Sarsilmaz, Chippa, Charter Arms..... they have something to offer the lower end markets.

Great video and review! I'm trying to decide on the 4 or 6 inch barrel. Trying to decide on if for me the heavier 6 inch for recoil management is better than the smaller package of the 4 (I'm a smaller handed man). What would you recommend?
