I have a Hi-Point JXP10mm and I have zero problems with it. It shoots well and after oiling it only, I have had zero problems with it. To this point, I have no need to purchase another 10mm weapon because my Hi-Point does the job for $200! I even put a red dot on it and got a free extra mag!

He called the hi point the taurus towards the end of the shooting segment, for anyone confused…so it was the hi point that shot better/had less recoil, the taurus shot like a pile of slop and the petruding mag release buttons caused him to drop the mag twice while shooting. On that note, I do own tauruses, love them as much as my other guns and have never had a single issue with any of them. Have never had to send one in for repairs, can’t say that about some higher end (vs taurus anyways) brands *COUGH SIG COUGH*.

Let's say you are in the woods on a hike. I say the Taurus is going to be better than just about every other pistol in 10mm. Its hammer fired so if, IF the round doesn't go off you can pull the trigger again. It has a safety that lets you carry hammer down. You don't have to thumb the hammer to do it. You don't have to worry about taking the safety off. The TH10 is going to be the new kind of 10mm pistols

I have a high point 45acp that's been under my boat seat for many years! Never cleaned, just a quick spray of lube every so often. Never had an issue, always 100% reliable.

Say what you will on hi point (disclaimer, I don't own one). At a high end range in Houston, they sold out quickly on the JXP10 and can't keep them in stock. I guess it's a gateway 10

Usa made, mag doesn't accidentally get dropped, and half the price? Sounds like an easy choice for the hipoint!

I'll take the Taurus over the Hi-Point any day. I have several Taurus pistols and all have been reliable.

How can you even suggest the Taurus when the magazine has fallen out twice on you? That is a huge problem you are just ignoring. No way I would trust a gun with the magazine falling out!

I sent my last two Taurus handguns back to the factory for repair. The revolver was so bad out of the box, Taurus told me they would have to destroy it and send me a new one because the frame was so out of spec....6 weeks now, nothing. Two of my friends have HiPoints and they work fine.

I’m such a fan of both, the only advantage the Taurus would have is EDC, but I love them both!

If I heard you correctly, you said way less recoil with the Hi-Point. Even though you mistakenly called it the Taurus.

I'm pretty sure that you can use the same magazines in the Hi Point 10mm carbine as the pistol. That would be a fun and affordable set up :)

For the money difference, I'd be plenty happy with the hi point. It's a tool, it performs and you can still afford a can of dip and have enough left to take the wife out.

I wasn't aware that Hi-point made a 10mm until now, I've been waiting to see some more testing on the Taurus, I have a G series compact Taurus and It has not had any issues, and does everything well, I use it and the 357-Magnum as EDCs and rotate them, so far so good, THX for posting. 🇺🇸

I glad to see recoil is making someone else drop the mag..but mine was a g2c in 40 3inch barrel...recoil ..snappy....Glock 10 mm wasnt snappy was a 5 in barrel

I recently purchased the TH 10 as well. It’s an excellent firearm and accurate… only complaint I have is my magazine fell out a few times as well. now I’m not sure if it’s my finger hitting it or if it’s just the recoil… if it’s my finger hitting it, I was wondering if I should take a Dremel tool and shave down one side of the ambidextrous magazine release button… I’d really hate to do that. I almost wish they made one that you could install for which side you use the most… so this is my thought process all of a sudden you’re in the woods possible bear attack happens you shit your pants and you pull your weapon fire one round and magazine falls to the ground now you’re screwed… what’s your thoughts on this?.

For the price difference you can pimp out the Hi-point with a red dot and extra mags.🤣

You’re going to whine about one inexpensive magazine? I thought about the Taurus, because I’ve had good luck with their revolvers, and had the opportunity to try out a TX10 at the range. I too dropped the mag, the ambi safety was not kind to the web of my hand, and it had awful muzzle jump. About a week later I shot the JXP10. Yes, it’s heavy. Yes, it’s not “pretty”, but the last time I looked, “pretty” doesn’t stop a threat. With a small brake on the JXP10, the weight and the barrel length made it shoot like a moderately-light .45ACP - IOW, great. I don’t use that for EDC, since it has a red dot and a brake, and is large, but I do take it to my wood shop (Hi-Points are almost completely immune to dirt and sawdust) and I trust it as much as a Glock or Springfield Armory. I can shoot it better on the range than either of those, too - it’s very accurate and muzzle rise is minimal. I still like Taurus revolvers, but I’ve never shot one of their semis that was worth a bucket of warm pee.

I really respect your opinion, and I know that the amby safety adds more width, that reduces your ability to carry it well concealed. However, many people carrying a 10 mm, including yourself, will be doing so for protection in the woods. In that case it's extra important to be able to have a gun you can use with either hand because you never know if an (or which) arm might be disabled during a bear, cougar, wolverine, wolf, dog or moose attack. You probably want a gun with safety controls you can reach with either hand easily if four-legged animals are your foe. And for the same reasons, for deep woods protection you probably ought to be practicing ambidextrous handling skills anyway? I see it as a trade-off decision between concealed carry versus deep woods carry. This gun favors deep woods carry. For as inexpensive as the part is, they should consider including one left only, and one right only replacement safeties, in addition to the amby safety that should come fully installed already.

You can afford to have both pistols, and a 10mm HiPoint carbine. It would be nice if Taurus came out with a 10mm carbine that used the TH10 15 shot magzines.

Wow, that Hi point does what it's supposed to. Maybe you can file down the mag buttons on the taurus a bit to keep the mag from being released accidentally.

One of my boys has the Hipoint. I cant shoot it because I'm too busy laughing at it because its so ugly. It does function well and groups well when I'm not laughing.

I wish somebody would try the magazine release in the bottom of the magwell.

My son bought the High point and has nothing butt problems has already sent it back once got it back and still problems.

The hi point are good to get pistol carbine combo that share mags. But for practical in carrying everyday the taurus is better.

Both pistols definitely serve a purpose but I think I'll stick with my SIG P320 XTEN. 😁

Well now this is a interesting video and a very interesting comparison. Hi-Point pistols have always been clunky Bulkey and just plain ugly. However, they have always been reliable and they go bang every time. So if only the high point fits your budget then I would say you are probably going to be well-armed.

I always enjoy a lot of your reviews and I know Taurus is new to the 10 mm game and so is High Point but I would rather have a High Point over any Taurus any day of the week sorry they’re Quality Control issues back in the day and some issues that they have now still do not sit well with me. Dont let the JXP10 fool you. Its frame is cheaply made plastic that most dollar store toy pistols are made of and thats what you get for the price. Now when it comes to slinging lead down range, ive surprised people at the range during matches, especially when I tell them that it only costs a little more than the aftermarket barrel I bought for my Glock 20. Th10 is next in line for me.

the taurus is not 'cheap'...it is only a bit less than a Glock 20. the hi point is so massive I cannot see it being seriously considered by many people

The taurus th10 is better than my sig xten, it doesnt bulge brass with nuclear loads like my sig does, it cycles every time, and i can load all 15 rounds in the taurus mag and seat it on a closed side. The mag is falling out because chuke doesnt know how to grip a gun apparently lol

I'd buy a used Glock 20 before I'd buy either of those. I've never owned a Hi Point and likely never will, but I've owned numerous Taurus pistols, semis and revolvers, and with one exception, the old PT92, every one was a POS. And even worse was Taurus's CS. The mag dropping out under recoil is not a good thing.
