Tavistock South was one of the busiest stations on the Plymouth to Launceston railway, since it was located in the middle of the town and had a fright depot. Sadly, none of the station remains today, since it has been constructed on.
The line then ran past Kelly College and out to Mary Tavy, where some of the GWR old track bed can be seen, running parallel with the Southern Region line.
