Here in PH is from elementary, we have a foundation day or intramurals were all grades are compiting in singing contest like this. Like if you are grade 1 you have to beat the grade 2-6. So you see the training of the singers. And this happen till high school to college. Not mentioning the outside the school competition.

Uniforms here have like those basic white blouse then its the plaid skirts where the color codings are. Each school has their own color/pattern before but now we have a specific color for each city (or atleast here in ours). In ours green with yellow and red strips in the tip is the color coding. The private schools tho is where the elaborate designs are in. Ours is really nice looking tho its a struggle to wear especially with this heat

Erick Santos and I came from same school in college... I was on my 4th year when he was only a freshman. I remember him as a freshman, a simple loner guy then when he joined the single contest his world changed and the silent guy became famous. Anyway, he doesn't know me, I just have some friends who is his batchmate in college. He was really good in singing. Just sharing.

Diffirent colors in each school level only applies in the P.E Uniform. For daily Polo uniform is just white. However, some schools uses blue and other colors for their polo.

About the canta claros, we have school singing competitions too, usually during school foundation days or special days (like science month or language month)... But i do remember that we had one for classical filipino oratory contests. I think that's up to regionals. Pinoys, please comment if you remember (it's not sabayang pagbigkas or balagtasan).
