Remember a guy who watched this fell for a very young miss Foster and shot Ronald Reagan in 1981.

Loved the review gentleman. That mohawk is a homage to American soldiers in Vietnam, who when they went into battle wore the Mohawk like the Native Americans of the United States. Signifying their intend to go to war and fight to the death. Such a good review fella. Great work! Thank you ❤

I love the bgm & the cinematography of this movie of new york, it's my style. Also the best look of Robert de Niro in all his movies. Even Sam raimi's way of showing New york in Spider man 1, 2 & 3 is beautiful & amazing.

The part where Travis was cutting an "X" on the front of his ammo that you asked about has to do with "hollowpoint" ammunition which is designed to expand when it hits, thus causing a bigger wound channel and more damage inside the body. It also tends to increase the stopping power of a given bullet, since the expansion imparts more energy to the target, as opposed to the bullet passing through the target. By cutting the front of the bullets like that, Travis is trying to create a "poor man's hollowpoint", but it seems like experts are not sure that even works the way Travis thinks it does.✌💯

I mean in theory you can make your own. But you'd be better off just drilling a small hole in he tip than trying to make an x like he is. Like i'm a hunter who legally makes his own ammunition at home. And i of course would never have tried to do this myself living in Australia where rules around this stuff are very strict. But carving an X into your bullet with a knife will have little to no effect on expansion. However drilling a small hole in the tip will have a dramatic and testable effect on expansion and how the bullet functions both in the air and in the the target.. Hence the name HOLLOWPOINT

@@drunkpaulocosta Great comment...I knew that the "X" making did not really work, I just did not read too much on the details of why...thank you for this information. ✌

15:25 great cameo of the movie director himself, Martin Scorsese.

You can practically smell 1970's New York City and Times Square (the red light district often shown in Travis' night roamings) watching this film.

One of the films that served as inspiration for The Joker, the other was The King Of Comedy, also starring De Niro and directed by Scorsese.

The whole Charles Palentine planned assassination angle is mostly inspired by a guy called Arthur Bremer who shot and paralysed Alabama governor George Wallace during his presidential campaign rally in 1972 (four years before Taxi Driver came out). Like Travis, Bremer kept a diary which was later published as a book called An Assassin's Diary, and it's full of the kind of ramblings you'd expect from someone in that frame of mind. E.g. "I hope my death makes more sense than my life", which was paraphrased in Joker in Arthur Fleck's journal.

The TV show with couples dancing is American Bandstand. You can see the A B on the wall. And the song playing is Late For The Sky by Jackson Brown.

If you want to see an AMAZING display of acting range from Keitel & DeNiro you should check out Mean Streets. They're both in that film & their characters are utterly OPPOSITE of who they are in Taxi Driver.

If you average 30 mph you can run the greens on Manhattan avenues from a green start almost the entire length of Manhattan. Trick is to average 30 mph 🤪🤷🏻 only avenue that it doesn't work is Park Avenue. 👍🏻

If Taxi Driver were set in today's America Travis would frequent 4chan type message boards and would have wound up shooting up a shopping mall with an assault rifle or two.

The gun dealer 'Easy Andy' (Steven Prince) was the subject of the Scorsese film American Boy. In that film he tells a story about someone over-dosing and having to give them a shot. Tarantino used it beat for beat in Pulp Fiction.

@@TheMovieJourney it has so much room to be expanded on but i wont. Like i imagine it as a sketch on SNL where deniro is an Uber Driver. And he just talks about covid conspiracies and "Dictator Dan" the whole ride. Like darkened mirror. Looks back and says "So do you listen to Alex Jones?"

Oh man, you guys are practically RELISHING this reaction! Ha! "Uber Driver, Directed By Martin Scorsese", that cracked me up! FANTASTIC reaction, possibly my favorite reaction yet to this movie! Definitely in the top echelon! If someone told me to recommend a "Taxi Driver" reaction, THIS would be the one that would come to my mind first. PLEASE do more Scorsese/De Niro ESPECIALLY the under-reacted to "The King Of Comedy" (total classic, 1982) and "Cape Fear" (1991 - their biggest hit together, a total 90s blockbuster that everyone knows....and not one reaction for it!). Also their first movie together: "Mean Streets" (1973). That's a great movie too. Other classic Scorsese: "After Hours" (1985 - fantastic). And De Niro, off the top of my head: "The Deer Hunter", he has a small role in Terry Gilliam's "Brazil" (which is fantastic), "Midnight Run", Tarantino's "Jackie Brown". I'm assuming you've seen "Raging Bull", "Goodfellas" and "Casino" of course! And "The Godfather Part 2"!
