You can tell because no matter what character it is that goes on a rant, it always sounds like Tarantino: partly true insight and mostly full of shit. The guy does know movies, and he does have a knack for cool sounding monologs (Jules in Pulp Fiction is full of them), but his dialog between men and women is notoriously fake sounding.

Really that was an incredible scene in every way. It also outlined that Vega was ultimately more worried about himself than about Mia and he met with cosmic justice in the end.

All of it is utter nonsense, from the xrays to the fictional gun details. It's an example of horrible writing and why Die Hard 2 isn't the classic that the first one was. Ironically the film contributed to the myths around the Glock brand and helped it become dominant.
