Now I understand why TY Danjuma turned down the chance to be Head of State after the failed coup, I guess it became clear to him that some factions in the army didn't approve of his rise through the ranks. In my view, Obasanjo's execution of the plotters was a measure of not repeating the same 'mistake' that Aguyi Ironsi made. Thank you so much for the effort and research you put into these episodes.

So many side stories to this chapter of Nigeria's history. How Colonel John Madaki almost got executed as Bisalla's ADC. Also look up Col. Obgebor's account about how Colonel Wya was executed and later his British wife received a letter of apology that he was never involved in the coup. The woman then put her four children in her car and drove in front of a big truck killing them all. That coup would make a great book and movie.
