I like this selection of guitars. Kudos to Taylor for using different tonewoods in the construction of their guitars.

Urban ash guitar sounds wonderful. Redwood is my favorite guitar top and I've built several from an amazing stock I got from the same tree used by the Petros brothers for their African Rose guitar. Brought it to a meet and greet with Tommy Emmanuel and he fell in love with it...couldn't put it down. My greatest thrill as a builder. It's no wonder redwood is my favorite eh? But here, the UA guitar has it beat. Great sounding guitar.

I am typically a Martin guy. I have a few 0-18, 00-28, 000-18, D28MD. I wanted to try something different. A local shop had the 414ce Sinker Redwood. I tried it and was blown away by the tone. The warm and rich overtones really captured my interest. I bought it on the spot ! I am a fan of Redwood. I owned a Petros Tunnel 13 at one time. Must have Redwood in the collection.

I personally like what Taylor is doing with the sustainably sourced woods. Two of their experimental tops have grabbed my attention; the flames maple all around (forget the model number) and this 424 UA. While Quinton can make a kleenex box with rubber bands sound good, these are nice sounding guitars!

Many comments here, including mine, regularly recognize Quinton's penchant for playing something that will make a particular guitar sound good. I am slowly picking up some of Quinton's chops (recognition, not me playing them), but I am still impressed that he plays a variety to bring out some of the nicer qualities of most instruments he plays.

Seagull guitars was started using sunken silver maple and such in Canada. I have an older Seagull (2001 Artist) and it is still amazing. My first one was an S6 cedar top and it was amazing also! Cedar is nice sounding!

When i hear the words "urban ash" i think of cheaper woods.. But in this case i actually think it sounded better than the other ones. Not sure if its just that particular guitar or the way my ears are tuned today.. anyway, nice demo

A middle digit of 1 means a softwood top - redwood cedar, or spruce. Two (2) means a hardwood top. Hard to tell from this, but the redwood top LTD stood out for me.

The urban ash guitar sounded the best to my ears. Topend on the other two a bit to prickly for me taste.

Just picked up the 414ce ltd sinker and it's awesome. Not boomy awesome but all strings ring close to each other in responce to picking.

My understanding is that the 1 means soft wood, and the 2 means hard wood.

I also thought the 4 series had white plastic binding and a specific inlay also. I think the necks on that series are also light colored. So would a 424(Ash top) and a Sitka top 12 string!?😂

I think it would be very interesting to compare the Taylor 414ce std against the Martin GPC-13e Ziracote (if you have one available).

912 ce Builder’s Edition is the best. What a warm sound with the best playability. Aesthetically indeed it is a pc of elegant furniture. I love it. Andy’s the best creation.

I tried a couple of Taylors at Long and McQuade . One was over $3500 and another was even more than that ,then I tried a Yamaha F800 that was only $289.99 and that thing in my opinion sounded better than both of the Taylors. I was not impressed with the Taylors at all but that is only my opinion.

with these guys (taylor) it's all marketing. at those price points, there are guitars that deliver fuller sound. These taylors are in d-28 territory, price wise. or, that cool custom j-35 from gibson you recently road-tested.

Ok...just to get it straight for you. The 1 and 2 separate a hardwood top or soft wood. 1 being soft 2 being hard. Sitka =soft , redwood= soft urban ash= hard. Mahogany = hard... it'd be nice to know what your talking about before shooting a video. Maybe?

Wish there had been more playing and less talking about "naming conventions". I got nothing from the loud bashing for a few seconds of each guitar.
