“All your closets of backlogged dreams and how you left them all to me” and her grandmothers voice singing as taylor lives out those dreams gives me chills every time

The way she's able to make grief specific enough to be meaningful to her, and yet generic enough to be meaningful for nearly everyone else. This song also gets to me because of my fathers passing. I still have one of his handwritten grocery shopping lists that he wrote on a post-it note, so when she says "shouldve kept every grocery store receipt, because every scrap of you would be taken from me" I cry like a baby.

I adore this song. And I love how her grandmother’s voice sounds echoing throughout stadiums across the world. What a lovely tribute. I really do believe there’s been a few times her grandmother s spirit has visited with Taylor on stage. When her piano played itself, and when Taylor’s hair was being played with (on one side only) while at the piano straight after this song, I feel like Marjorie was making her presence felt.

As a 57 year old male I can tell you this song hits me every time. Besides my grandmother I have lost both my parents and this song always has me thinking of all the saying they would tell me growing up. I became a Swiftie because my daughter is close to Taylor's age so I had to listen to the music and I would take her to the concerts every time she came to town on tour.

"Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go." Jamie Anderson This always helps me when the love overwhelms me and the person I want to give it to is no longer here. 2:22

Marjorie is one of the most relatable to me too! I always cry because I remember my grandmother, she always had a song to any word we speak to her, so when Taylor sings “I think you’re singing to me now” It’s like me going in ruins!! Love the reaction as always!

I sobbed my way through this song when i saw the Eras Tour in Minneapolis. My grandmother passed a few years ago, also named Marjorie, and unfortunately when we lost her, we lost a lot of the familial get-togethers with my dad's 6 older siblings and their broods. Add to that, my show date was a week shy of the 3 year anniversary of my mother's passing, and i was a mess. But in the best, most "i feel so understood" kind of way (and i didnt make a scene).

My brother, my niece and I went to see the movie and when this came on we both looked at each other and cried. I didn't ask who he was thinking of (we had different relationships with different relatives) but either way, we knew we were missing someone and understood each other.

I hadn’t seen that the crowd lights up during this song, before I saw it last year, and when I looked around and saw 70k in a room lighting up for Taylor and this beautiful, it was one of the best moments of the night for me. This song already hits because I’ve lost all of my grandparents by the time I was 9, so it was extra special live.

I JUST lost my grandpa, just earlier today, and I've had this song (unwillingly) in my head since I got the news. I was actually scared to watch this when it popped up in my feed because I knew this song was going to hurt but hearing your perspectives on it is honestly so helpful. I still haven't fully processed the news but your thoughts help me realize it'll be okay in the end..even if it doesn't feel like it quite yet...I guess I don't fully know how to phrase what it eased in my heart.

-hugs- Loss is hard. And this song paints it beautifully. “ every scrap of you would be taken from me” hurts me the most I think. My mom died in 2018. My dad died in 2021 and my Grandmama who was my best friend died and 2023. I clung to their personal items and things. Especially my grandmother. I found actual scraps of paper that I didn’t want to part with where it just had her handwriting or something she thought was funny or a prayer or recipe. over time I’ve been able to let go of some of the things that I’ve kept, but only when my heart felt ready to let go a little bit more. I pray for comfort and peace and healing for your heart.

Finally lol. I've been waiting for you to do this song. Beautiful song. I've sadly lost all my grandparents. And when she said should've asked you to right it down for me or kept every grocery store receipt. You just don't know how true that feeling is until you lose someone. Cherish every second you have with them.

I absolutely love your gradual appreciation of Taylor Swift talent. I know you hate the song, but I became a Swiftie after "Shake it off" and then "Blank Space", because I realised she is this talented dork who has no problems making fun of her image. I'm not really a "pop" person but Shake it off is an amazing song to sing to myself when I'm feeling stressed from other people's actions and attitude and there's nothing I can do about it. The chorus is a perfect 30 second dance party song to remind myself that I am not responsible for other people's actions. Since folklore and evermore, I've been astounded my the songs which are not given the airtime they deserve. Her lyrics and phrases are so fucking beautiful, and so powerful. She has an amazing poetic way of writing and I literally am blown away by her

I can't get through this song without tears or a lump in my throat. I think of my sweet feisty mamaw, my tiny spit-fire grandma, and my every single day pearls and heels 👠 wearing Great Gram. It also doesn't help that since December I have lost my dad, a cousin my age, and an aunt. Tay knows how to land a gut punch. ❤ So, I feel your, my friend. I'm so sorry for your loss. 💔 Not a massive Swiftie, but I think everyone going down this rabbit hole finds at least one song that just speaks to their soul. She's so good at being specific with her own experience whilst somehow summing up the same experience for everyone else (grief, break-ups). Marjorie, Tolerate It and All Too Well all do this for me. P.S. I know you've done All Too Well, but watching the short film or better, the Eras live version will maybe make you see it in a new way. It would be interesting to see if there's a difference for you. Because it's like this, where it's not so much about the vocals, it's the journey.

This song absolutely destroys me. "I should've asked you questions I should've asked you how to be Asked you to write it down for me Should've kept every grocery store receipt *'Cause every scrap of you would be taken from me."* My beloved uncle was murdered in February 2023. That last line is BRUTAL. 😔 (Sidenote: another one is'Soon You'll Get Better.' it makes me think of my sweet son after I told him I was diagnosed with Melanoma. I got incredibly lucky and I assured him I would be okay. In that moment I saw my son have the realization, in real time, that I won't be around forever. It was devastating but also incredibly beautiful.)
