The background that almost sounds like strings, when Taylor Swift sing....'I think your singing to me now'. Is Actually her grandmother singing! Taylors mom found old records of Majorie singing back in her Opera days! So She was singing! and Taylor and her got to sing together again in a way! She's also in the outro in the background!

Same. Even though I asked TONS of questions I never felt it was enough.I never got to talk to either of my great grandpas about what it was like in WWII but I do have one of their travel logs from basic training all the way through him coming home and a bracelet he bought my heart Grandma from France. Thank God for Ancestry sites. I’ve done genealogy for about 10 years and I’ve found out sooooo much.

@@Karansharmaheyitsme ask your parents and aunts/uncles all the questions you can about them. If they (your grandparents) had siblings ask them questions. My mom never knew her biological father -- I talk about him in my documentary video about my Nana and her fight with Alzheimer's disease. Thanks to Ancestry, I found relatives from that side, and one cousin told me "Grandpa always talked about the one sibling who became a raging alcoholic, and no one in the family knows why or what happened to him..." that was my biological grandfather. He died from complications due to his alcoholism in 1984, before I was born. It was weird, my mom had two brothers, he hated one, loved the younger one, wanted nothing to do with my mom...

It is NOT stupid. My Nana passed from cancer a few years ago and most of her things went to my mom. While moving stuff, we found some old but familiar boxes that she used to keep her prayer sheets in. In the one box was a rock and on the back she'd written in Sharpie, 'Helen '97'. It was just slate that I found in the parking lot of the library near her church. I thought it was cool because it was so weirdly thin and flat and gave it to her as a gift. She had many other things I'd given to her. Things my mom gave her as a kid even. Brought on the tears. *Prayer Sheet: she'd talk to a lot of people daily and would keep notes. Every morning at 5, she'd pull out the former day's little note paper and pray for an hour, going in depth about the people she met and the struggles they were facing and asking God to help them.

That’s so sweet. I had just held it together finding all kinds of things and it just felt stupid in that moment that of all the destroyed things, including my great grandmother’s player piano, that the thing that pushed me over was a post it note.

dude, it hit me hard. The weird thing is I'm pretty sure I heard it on a shuffle, but I wasn't paying attention to the words... seeing the words, and the photos and video of her grandmother just hit differently than just listening to the song.

You are not alone crying listening to Marjorie.. I love my Grandma(mom side) so so so much.. i call out to her till now (Im now 50 and she died when I was 15). She thought my first prayers, Hail Mary and Our Father in her own dialect (Hakka, part of China Province … she is of Hakka descent) .. so till today When I say my prayers, I will automatically pray in Hakka Dialect. But we are not fm China, we are from Malaysia and she moved to Malaysia when she was a kid.. so. She is is such a mystery to me, I should have asked her about her family … Luckily one of her sister (My YeePoh) is still around.. I will give a big hug when I have a chance to meet her again..

My grandmas died 7 and 5 years ago, and I cried like a baby when I first heard this song. They were both incredibly different women, but I loved them both and their deaths were so painful, even if expected as they both battled years with cancer. It's been enough time that it doesn't hurt anymore, not the same raw way. I just... Miss them. Sometimes I do something and I want to call them to tell them about it and, well... And this song makes me cry almost every time, but I still listen to it because it makes me remember how much I still love them. It's a healing kind of pain, I think.

I completely understand. First time I heard this song and saw the video I was really emotional as well. It's so easy to connect to personally. And I agree about the questions thing. I always asked my gramma a lot, and she offered up a lot on her own, but there is always that part of you that says it wasn't enough. That you could have asked more, asked questions you can only think of now because you have the perspective of losing the person.
@WhitneyReacts
@WhitneyReacts 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Looking back I wish I would have asked more questions but I didn’t know what to ask. It really sucked when I wanted to ask Granny questions and her dementia had set in. You have to be careful when asking questions about the past cause sometimes they’ll go back to that place.
