She didn't know about the "I made that bitch famous" line though she never lied about it. The lyric she knew about was the sex one.

It killed me to see her disappointment at not receiving Grammy nominations. She has looked to them for validation her whole career and for the most part has received it. So to know that even Lover (an EXCELLENT album) received the same treatment at Reputation shows how fickle the industry is. Mess up once as a woman and you can't get back into our good graces. Lover was miles ahead of like half of the nominees for AOTY.

Now we know why she didn’t take accountability bcs she genuinely didn’t have to BCS SHE NEVER APPROVED! Kanye never made the real lyrics clear for her. The CALL was edited!

This video didn’t age well for that one comment. The way he wanted her to take “accountability” and didn’t give her the benefit of the doubt.

It's kind of hard escaping the training to be a people pleaser. I remember Scott Borchetta bragged about how he told her when she was 14 that she had to hug the wives of male radio hosts before said male radio hosts otherwise the wives would be "jealous". I'm glad she's finally realizing it's impossible to follow every BS thing like that to try and make everyone comfortable.

😮.....that Scot.....all the media scrutiny was endured by Taylor..she had to go through slutshaming.......... ... She had to go through alot to release each record..... because most of the ideas that she come up with were against what he wanted but she stood by her words and every thing that she did became friutful and now he just did the worst thing he could do

That scene you wanted to see with her at the grammys coming for Kanye, I now don't think was fully about Kanye. I almost suspect it was directed at multiple men. Kanye sure, but also Scott from Big Machine or Scooter Braun. I feel like there is so much that happened that we don't know about and that it all started back then. I don't think she had to go into more depth when it came to Kimye. Because her one line sums it all up. we never hear her approve that line. We never see her approve the gross visuals kanye uses. Nothing more needs to be said than that. But apart from that we also heard about how Kanye asked her to present him with the vangaurd award and then turn around and blame mtv for ratings in a separate interview. I don't think she needs to give that couple any more attention or room in her life.

She's not an innocent lamb all the time. . . . Even now, you guys miss the point of the Kanye/Kim phone controversy. She heard a couple of lines from the song; she never heard the whole of it, or approved it. She never gave permission for the call to be recorded--and under California law, it is a felony with a mandatory prison sentence (look it up). She never saw the video, and Kanye used what is _her_ body, apparently naked and in bed with him. In case you are just not aware of it, they had Swift on the phone for almost an hour. A man whose early career makes him a specialist in editing audio. And a reality star queen whose modus operandi is to stir up as much controversy as possible, for ratings. It doesn't matter what she said, they had enough sample to make her appear to say anything they liked. She could have jailed both of them. . . . .so Kanye has a public "nervous breakdown" and goes off social media for a year to recover? She never gets any credit at all for not dumping them both in jail. Truth is, it was a way for Kanye to get attention, while destroying the reputation of someone else.

@@aaronrdomanais on the contrary. Matt Palmer does believe that Taylor is a good person. You have to remember that sometimes people don’t have the full story and are led to believe something that isn’t true (which is what happened to Taylor’s portrayal in the media and made people believe that she was someone that she wasn’t).

I’ve been a Taylor Swift fan since Our Song came out and I love her sooo much. I completely agree that her reaction to the proposal was so awkward 😂 I get it tho, I wouldnt have known what to do either. I feel like this documentary provided me a lot of insight though and was very relatable to me. I just kept thinking “this is how I feel”/“this is how i would feel if i was her”. It also made me understand why she released Lover and what it means to her. Great video! I’ve been looking up reviews on it and haven’t been able to find a lot yet so it was nice to hear you two give your thoughts 😊

I thought it was awkward that the guy wanted Taylor to witness it. Like it wasn’t even at a concert, it was just as some meet-and-greet. It was just really weird that he wanted to propose to his gf there.

male artists outfits be like: flannel and jeans, sometimes suit, mostly tshirt and jeans female artist in different album and mv and era: diamond dress, fitted dress, changes 8 outfit in one mv, make up, hair, style. visual. jewelry. like imagine a female artist putting out work with mediocre visual..oh just her in her ripped jeans and crop top...ppl would judge that so hard but justin bieber can just go in and wear his baggy jeans and call it am "outfit"

Amen, MARIAH!! Felt the same way!! And Mimi didn’t bat a damn eye! MY queen. I also felt that the idea that Taylor felt her last album wasn’t good enough based on a Grammy nomination was uncomfortable for me. Clearly she thought her album was worthy, as she should. She created something her fans loved. Letting some strangers influence het feelings on her own work is heartbreaking. So many artists don’t get recognized for their work. That doesn’t minimize their work, just, unfortunately, their sales and then only for struggling artists. Taylor doesn’t need to worry about that. She should hold her head up high. The general public opinion is that she’s amazing! And thats the only opinion that should matter. The Grammys arent buying her albums. We are.

Yeah, but as she says, she learned to be that way, it is her own personality as well. Sadly, people forget that these famous stars are human and they aren't perfect, they have complexes and make mistakes. And as a swiftie, I always knew that she thought that way, I just didn't know how bad it was and it's heartbreaking.

but we found out that she was hundred percent innocent about Kanye situation now that the call video is out, also, she doesn't speak about it because she had talked about it on rolling stone magazine in details and said that she didn't want to get into anymore.

7 by Lil Nas X over Lover for AOTY 2020............................................The Grammy's mean nothing to you anymore Taylor. Look how they shun the girls who have shown up and promoted them over the last decade. There's a reason they don't show up anymore. The treatment of Ariana Grande this year was shocking....NOPE! Taylor is bigger than the Grammy's and Lover was an excellent body of work.

Thank you for the great discussion. I came across some negative bad reactors, so I was glad to find this. I bought her first album because of "Our Song" and bought each additional album afterward, following her through the changes. And there are only a few artists that I do that for, enjoying every work they drop. One is Eminem, which is quite a difference. I love her creativity and story telling. Her quick rise to the top and her struggle now is reminiscent of Eminem and probably so many other artists. I was afraid while watching the documentary that some critics would be saying, "There she goes, trying to make people feel sorry for her." Which I did see some. When I read negative comments, it bothers me, probably more than it bothers the artists or at least, I have always thought so. I just hope people stop the negativity and judgment, she is human just like all of us.

Love watching you guys. I loved miss Americana and I watched it having never listened to her music before, never a single album. Obviously I had heard her big hits on the radio, but I had never listened to her. I watched this and thought it was a very nice documentary that touches on a lot of serious topics. I was surprised. I obviously knew a little about some Kanye West drama but…. I may disagree with your take on that aspect. Had the full tape been released by then? have you since watched the full unedited tape (illegal tape, that is). I watched it and it was very eye opening. At the end and he hangs up. He asks those in the room “did we get it all, we can’t have any part missing”. He was setting her up from the minute she picked up the phone. I don’t think you should react to it but maybe watch it.

panic! at the disco is one example of a band that is constantly changing their music... like their album now is pop, they started out as a pop punk band and their sophomore album is like the beatles then the next album is a different vibe because members left then next album is about using synths so on so forth and panic! also has a trilogy video for 2013-2018 this is gospel, emperor's new clothes and say amen there are hardworking men in the industry but not all...

Yeah - also David Bowie. I totally disagree with the idea that female singers careers are over at 30-35. What they mean is that their teen audience drops off. They no longer resonant as young and fresh. If these female pop singers remember that if they are 33 - there are also 33 year olds out there that would follow their music. Maybe the lesson is to accept your age and that ummm you can make music for people the SAME age as you, you don't have to ignore that entire audience - they have money to buy your merch too.

It is true though,as she says you have to find new ways to constantly invent yourself to stay relevant after a certain age, even in acting that occurs once you reach a certain age to compete with the shiny newcomer that comes along and grabs everyone’s attention,as she said in the documentary everyone treats you like the shiny new toy for like 2 years till the next pretty thing comes along.
