At least Chris Pratt and other actors are portraying their character from an actual “Universe Beyond” and not inserting a celebrity into the game. It’s just weird. And Post Malone is still weird imo, but different. He’s at least a magic-playing personality that is well known for playing the game and owning the most expensive card.

Post Malone I don’t mind because as you mentioned, he has been vocal and consistent in his love for D&D and Magic, and has been great for the game, and actually plays. I don’t doubt that Taylor Swift COULD be great at Magic if she wanted to be but I’m highly skeptical she’s even heard of the game, let alone has any opinion on it or support of it.

Can we please try not to blow everything out of proportion? Someone asked if there was any possibilities of a Taylor Swift/Grey's Anatomy secret lair, and not wanting to shut it down 100%, Rosewater chose not to say "no" outright. This does not mean there is any real chance of either of those ever getting a secret lair, it just means he didn't want to rule out the possibility of it happening at some point, no matter how small the chance might be. The way it's presented here almost makes it sound like he went on twitter unprovoked and asked if people wanted a Taylor Swift/Grey's Anatomy secret lair, which is not the case at all.

Of course Wizards will rip you off with more Arena scams. That's why I stopped playing almost 3 years ago. Gray's Anatomy is crossing over the line. It is GARBAGE to me. If Wizards makes this Secret Lair, expect them to make more from all of the the TV shows past and present. If Taylor Swift hits the market, we would see other bands on the Secret Lairs. This clearly has NOTHING to do with the theme of Magic. Not a fan of this lousy artwork for this first Secret Lair. I like the Julie Bell artwork. Thank you for the video Magic Historian.

I honestly wish more people would just give up Arena and move to Magic Online. Arena just sucks. It has like 10% of the cards MTGO does, no commander, no modern, the matchmaking sucks and the rewards are friggin terrible. It's crazy to me that Arena has the audacity to offer random uncommons as rewards for winning games in some draft or whatever. Like whats the difference between getting like a single uncommon from a recent set and just getting nothing at all? MTGO has nearly every card ever printed, all the formats, you choose who you wanna play, no "hell queue" and none of this scammy crap trying to force you to spend more money.

My immediate reaction to the title "Taylor Swift MTG Secret Lair" was disgust, but on further consideration, it's functionally almost the same thing as the Hatsune Miku secret lair, which was a title that made me very excited. And I think that really encapsulates the problem with Universes Beyond - everyone's against franchise crossovers except when it's a franchise they like, and then the sanctity of MTG lore stops mattering just enough for the crossover they like to feel acceptable. Not sure how we solve that. The Miku lair proved that trying to be sensitive to the people who don't like any given lair isn't an effective approach, so maybe they should just go all in on being as good as they can be for the people who do like them and have a broad enough range of crossovers that most people will have one they like themselves so they'd be hypocrites if they criticised another person's crossover tastes. And that frog thing is hilarious, it's literally "Pay to enter a shop".

I f'd up on the frog, two things, usually I do pay for the mastery pass before it comes out with the deal, because I've been doing that for awhile I figured it would be fine to buy the frog upfront, I mean I play enough. I wasn't sure how it worked, I could have looked it up but I didn't realize you didn't need the pass to get the currency, I figured it was just a shorter special mastery pass for this set, draft token, some packs and some mythics I figured it was probably worth it's cost but it sounds like I got fleeced. Eesh Edit: The draw for this for me was the mythics from the set, they're worth more than packs or mythics on mastery because they're usually bad but most mythics in this set are worth having. I'm still disappointed that it's such bad value, figured it was going to be equivalent to master but it's like twice as expensive or half as valuable

It hilarious that people are getting triggered because they want to cater to the Swifties, especial since we've had Taylor Swiftspear for the longest time.

I will say about the arena thing when thinking about it they probably just can't do two mastery passes at the same time. Now they should charge a lot less no doubt about that or get more in value because the value just isn't there and that's a giving but I can understand why they didn't just do a pass because we're still in a mastery pass for otj

@@BusinessSkrub graded cards with good abilities will never go down. Sol ring has a high value reprint. They did in fact reprint reserved list cards way back when as well. It’s nonsense in order to increase the value of certain people’s collections. WotC hit a new low some time ago. Any excuse to increase the value of cards they had in their personal collections already.

Post malone commander deck vs taylor swift ( the colab didnt go so well ) then someone pulls up with warhammer blood bowl secret lair tho idk who the commander would be to repersent taylors current partner. Genuinely tho a taylor swift secret lair likely wont be black color identity aligned i could still imagine a commander deck dedicated to sacrificing "ex bfs" for benefits. Genuine good memes aside , very disappinted in this direction they've been leaning towards with secret lair / universe beyond going heavy into irl modern day people. Give us more fantasy, be it high fantasy or sci-fi idc just less tv series walking dead , doctor who , movie actors jurrassic park / d&d. Leave that to fan creations or something the direction of leaning into irl people, modern day clothing etc. is just very offputting for official canon products universes beyond or not imo.
