The song is about the anxieties of being in an on-again/off-again relationship, in my opinion. The repetitive nature of the chorus really hammers home the anxious self-talk we're prone to, asking herself over and over "are we through these trials and tribulations, or is it gonna fall completely apart this time?" (Are we in the "clear"/out of the woods is the metaphor she uses for this). The video shows us the relationship did end, but she grew from it by finding herself. The song is rumored to be about her relationship with Harry Styles, I believe, but she very rarely (never?) actually confirms who a song is about, so anyone telling you otherwise is probably lying.

She confirmed back in 2008 on Ellen that forever and always was about Joe Jonas and then never did that again.

Taylor said in an interview- It just kind of conjured up all these feelings of anxiety I had in a relationship where everybody was watching, everybody was commenting on it," she explained to Billboard of "Out of the Woods"'s inspiration. "You're constantly just feeling like, 'Are we out of the woods yet? What's the next thing gonna be? What's the next hurdle we're gonna have to jump over? Are we gonna make it to next week?'" She continued, "It was interesting to write about a relationship where you're just honestly like, 'This is probably not gonna last, but how long is it gonna last?' It doesn't mean they're not supposed to happen. The whole time we were having happy memories or crazy memories or ridiculously anxious times, in my head it was just like, 'Are we okay yet? Are we there yet? Are we out of this yet?'" This song is about Harry Styles. Many Easter Eggs (clues) confirming that. Like the HS tattoo on her wrist at 7:57, the matching paper airplane necklace they both wore that he gifted her and lastly a reference to a secret trip to the hospital after a snowmobile accident they had during a trip together in Utah Dec. of 2012.

The bridge about a car crash. Somewhat references an accident Harry had sometime during or shortly after their relationship. Therefore theoretically confirming the fact that this song was actually about the anxiety she felt while with Harry.

It's easy to miss but in the scene where she's being held in the air by the vines, there's a quick shot of her right wrist & the initials H.S. are written on it. The wolves represent the paparazzi always coming after her, & feeling anxiety is exactly what she wrote the song about so you felt exactly right! Great reaction!

Her 1989 world tour is on YT. It is incredible in its entirety, but her performance of Out of the Woods is one of her best love performances ever. Would love to see your reaction to it! And yes, the anxiety you felt while watching the video and listening to the song is exactly the feeling she was portraying. It's both anxiety inducing AND a gorgeous song. This video is about Harry Styles, she ripped off a necklace that was a paper airplane (not an actual paper airplane), and when she sang about 2 paper airplanes, Harry had one and I believe he had gotten one for her.

lovin it!!! I did not know I was a "swifty" until i got ticket to the eras tour a year before the tour in 8/5/23; I followed her thru country all the way until now; During the pandemic I did not know she made tow albums and won a grammy; I was a therapist focused on the pandemic and trying to help people be ok. Once we got tickets, I had to catch up with the Miss AMERICA Doc, and folklore and evermore; seriously that disconnected from music due to daily crisis; once things settled a bit; It was like a new universe; I had to catch up. I thought I knew everything TS🤣..... it was a wild journey. Sooo, Thank you for these reactions so we can revisit and reconnect

This song perfectly captures what it’s like to have anxiety all through a relationship, never knowing what is coming next, and not knowing where your partner stands with you. The lyrics and the music is meant to make you feel uncomfortable

This song hits hard. It shows what she goes through to try and find herself. I’m the beginning it says she lost him so it takes us on a journey of what we think is finding him but in the end she found herself. It is about Harry styles cause the line “2 paper airplanes flying” they both had match paper air plane necklaces. That’s why she rips it off in the video.

It’s obvious that this song is about realizing that you like someone a whole lot and know that it’s time to move forward or walk away… but you can’t decide if you should beg him to move forward (if you’re outta the woods) or if you’re too involved to leave and stay anyway and be devoured (by wolves)

This song is allegedly about Harry Styles, they had kind of a tumultuous relationship, but ultimately it was the media/paparazzi that really ruined them, they were together in the height of Harry Styles' 1D days and Taylor Swift was as big as always, so their relationship just seemed very high strung. I took the wolves as paparazzi, they couldn't really go anywhere together, the media was always after them, and the relationship itself Taylor explained it as 'knowing its gonna end, but just not knowing when exactly'.

I legally died and God brought me back to life and I started this channel to bring together through Music but I was not a reaction channel I had the idea to do pregame and post game shows for America’s got talent and I ended up becoming friends with the people on the show. They would even send me their music before putting it out. We pissed off a bunch of fans because my cohost was really being to this young artist but I was a fan but then I was not a fan of her singing at eight years old I thought it was creepy. Now those same people that hate me sit back and I actually break down the music if it’s a live performance and the microphone volume is way too loud then I blame the engineer and I say that the engineer needs to do a better job. I try to say things in a positive way but some stuff is not good. Nas is one of my best friends and I love pretty much all this music but not all of his music and I’ll let Matt that if a song comes on that I don’t like and I’ll say why. Too many people are kissing ass to get to scribers to get views and I got all the way up to 5000 telling the truth, you can get that 50,000 being a fake reactor that loves everything but they’re really really good reactors the ones that tell the truth they are getting 2 1/2 million or at least a quarter million. You’re very easy to read I could totally tell that you got bored during that song and I admit to the fans that I don’t like this. I love this artist but I don’t like this. Why your bop in your head every freaking song man. For me can you try one real reaction where especially if it’s an original your breakdown how good the songwriting is and it just feels good. I’m not a fan of your channel I’m just looking for channels to start grading and I started with yours. I legally died and it was a miracle that I came back to life and was able to walk and start my own pro wrestling company and start my music career again. I always tell people if you say you’re a musician you should be able to react to your own stuff. So I reacted to one of my favorite songs and I called my singing horrible. Too bad you couldn’t do the zoom thing man because we probably would’ve ended up being cool because when I talk to people I always try to find out what we have in common not what divides us because that’s what the government wants right now because we’re easier to control. And the zoom invite is good for maybe an hour I’m having a bad day and I’m manic and I’m ready to rant about something so that’s what I’m going to do. And no not your channel something important.
