I am so charmed by Taylor Swift...she has a wonderful respect for the artists that touched her as she grew up. Dave Grohl describes her knowing the piano part for one of his tunes at a party at Paul McCartney's...and he needed the help because all the guitars were left handed. She popped into his tune with naming the title and he flipped when he realized she had it nailed.

As a diehard Swiftie, we NEED a studio version of this cover on Speak Now Taylor's Version. I have loved the song Sunny Came Home since I was 7.

As far as singer/songwriters go, Shawn Colvin is among the greats -- her entire body of work has been phenomenal and I try to see her live anytime I get the opportunity. "A Few Small Repairs" in particular still stands out as a strong & influential album across generations. Taylor certainly has a more well-rounded appreciation for music than she gets credit for.

Shawn is amazing. Was lucky enough to catch her live in a small venue about three years ago. Initially I was pissed she had no backing band.....after a half hour I was glad she didn't have the distraction of a backing band. She has to be seen this way to truly be appreciated : )

If you liked Sunny Came Home, it might be because it did get a lot of air time on the radio. Google 'Polaroids' and 'Riding Shotgun Down the Avalanche' to listen to more classic Shawn Colvin. If you like those listen to 'Wichita Skyline' and 'I Don't Why'. It's true that she is a brilliant lyricist, but it is her voice and guitar playing that sets her apart, similar to Joni Mitchell in her time. If you wan't to see Joni's genius, watch the BBC concert from 1970. If you are not blown away by that live performance, your soul is dead.
