In the original, it was about the girl next door thinking about the popular guy next door, who was actually a decent dude. In this, it's the older version of the girl next door seeing this same guy years later and thinking about what could've been, rekindling those same feelings she had.

@@marialoisnuelan4580 so basically when she was younger and released some of her albums she was under contract with someone or something, and then they stole the rights to her albums and wouldn’t even sell them to her. So she ended up rerecording some of those songs and this time she owns them completely.

Her vocals are really flat here, which would imply i like her overproduced vocal on the OG version, but I can't deny it sounded better overall. Even the instrumentals here sounds terrible compared to the original.

@@materialgirl4896 if one never listened to the original, they'd probably think Taylor's Version is fine, but once you listen to the original the difference is drastic. I think it may be true that her voice is more mature and sophisticated now, but it still falls so flat on the ears for this particular track. The instrumental on Taylor's Version tries to mimic the original but lacks that country twang in a many of the parts.
