As someone who lives in NYC, this is true. I've bumped into friends/former classmates on the streets just by chance on several occasions. It's wild considering the fact there are 8 million people here amongst all five of the boroughs.

It’s a minor thing, but I really appreciated how you changed the background music for the clip at Ground Zero. The only time I’ve visited NYC was in 2012, shortly after the memorial opened, and being there was incredibly emotional.

I visited the memorial site back in 2015 - very impressive. By far the most impressive memorial I know about, unmatched by any other. So many lives were lost that day. We shall not forget them.

Hey Taylor, as a fellow twenty-something (who calls themselves twenty-something, although 30 is nearer than 20 ...) I absolutely love your vlogs. I see resemblances in so many things: The intention to end the student frugal lifestyle because of the first really well paying job, the feeling of freedom and spontaneity (that is especially present when spring is around the corner) and so on. Life sometimes just feels like being finally allowed to reap the fruits of one's labour. Although I have a different career path (I am a post-doc academic) and live in a different country, your vlogs really resonate with me.

I’m on company travel to NYC and I still can’t get away from my student frugality. I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it. Spend $100 on a meal that tastes good is not something to be proud of, spend $10 on an unexpected bomb meal is the real joy in NYC. I would actually go to trader joe to buy dessert and drinks instead of spending 5x to buy at a restaurant or bar. Never seen so many Trader Joe in my entire life.

@@MarcoAshford I don't think it's necessarily about 'splurging' like that. I see it differently: If spending 100$ on a meal means I can sit in a nice environment with my friends and have a nice evening with some good food, I am glad to be in (and glad to have money to spend it like this). Which doesn't mean that you can't have nice evenings with your friends gathering at home with some $2 bread, hummus and wine. (Unexpected bomb meals are the best, though!)

@@an-na797 Absolutely if you are in the zone with friends, then I actually don’t care about the meal prize. I was talking more about the self exploration, day to day meals. So far I only pick price with $ and $$ with 4.5+ ratings. That’s already endless. Good rating Halal food truck is the atomic bomb haha. My pizza game is weak, idk I still feel like nothing tastes better than Dominos 5 topping $11 whole pizza carry out deal. Then all the bread bagel is also not for me, rather have some ramen or Chinese or Thai stir fry street noodles, it’s all about that sauce and hot wok.

Oh man, I could listen to Harry talk all day! ETA: I visited Ground Zero in 2008 while in NYC to celebrate my 41st birthday. You really couldn't see much cos they were in the middle of building the memorial and One World Trade. My friend I stayed with and I saw it from an overlook window in the then newly-reopened WTC Building 7. You really can't get a grip on how HUGE those towers were until you see their footprints! I'd like to go back to see it again now that everything's done, but I highly doubt that will ever happen.

In my last few years (before I moved out of NYC,) I spent most of my commute around the City riding the MTA Buses. Definitely need to allot some cushion time to your destination, but it's more scenic and relaxing looking at the views. In my recent visits back, I usually take the Citi E-Bikes to get from Point A to B. A little bit more of a thrill trying to out-race the food delivery guys, but certainly quicker than taking a car around town!
