@jamescooper20056 ай бұрын
For the videos I was referring to here, I only shot with 2 cameras by myself, but video wasn’t the primary goal photo was. I wouldn’t recommend that as much now. I enjoy having another shooter with me. Now I shoot hybrid with another person to cover other angles.

I noticed that a lot of the video you take doesn’t involve a lot of panning and is mostly from one place. I really love that you achieve such beautiful videos this way. Have my first wedding video gig tomorrow and I was going to try all sorts of things but this reminded me to keep it simple.

I have my first indoor wedding/reception tomorrow so I've been looking at videos for inspiration. When I found this one at first I didn't know that you were going to be shooting a wedding candid only. This helps me even more because the wedding I am doing is also that way. It blew my mind and I felt very weird about it at first but this video has helped me to see that doing all candid will be just fine. Thank you for sharing this!

I don't know if you've mentioned it before, but you should talk about why you hold your camera the way you do in vertical. Most people hold their right arm awkwardly over their head... it seems with your right hand underneath, you get better stability.

Which focus point do u mainly use for your shots being in AF-C? I notice that you usually like to leave room for the subject to walk into either on the left or right of the frame, even on your vertical shots so I'm guessing top right or top left point? Saying that I'm sure your using cameras with like 62 focus points by now. I'm using a Canon 5D MK2 which only has 9 so I want to make sure that I get it right when I come to do weddings. Great work as always tjough!!

Hey Taylor, I've noticed that a fair amount of your photos have the subject in the vertical middle of your frame. This is kinda a double question, but how do you place your focusing points (or basically, what focusing area and where)? Then being "raised" as a filmmaker, I find it hard to put my subjects head away from the top of the frame, and as a result end up with the focusing point in the middle of their chest for sake of limited time. Do you have any tips for decently quick moving subjects, shifting between vertical and horizontal? I have a 5diii for reference. Thanks for your time!!!

Great video. I've a wedding to shoot in Italy (Lake Como) next week & I'm going to try & shoot some video throughout the day. I'm a Nikon shooter too. Tried it once before at a wedding in Rome, but I was recording with my mobile phone, Nikon, Mavic Air, so the footage doesn't match the greatest. Do you shoot your whole day with the same white balance settings? Thanks.
@jamessparrowphotography49604 жыл бұрын
Taylor - Videographers usually say the shutterspeed should be 2x the frame rate. How is this possible when you're outdoors doing hybrid coverage and don't have an ND filter on?
@TaylorJacksonPhoto4 жыл бұрын
I never notice it as much of a problem shooting a high shutter speed. If it’s choppy, there’s a frame blur plugin you can use as well
@arthursese60684 жыл бұрын
Not noticeable in slow motion. Regular speed if people are moving then it would be.

I wish I could do work like this, unfortunately my clients are mostly Mexican or South American, which most tend to want the whole event videotaped and expect like 2-3 hour videos. I've done a few weddings and even Quinceñeras that only wanted highlights and those have been the most fun I've had in events while working. I think putting more effort into a shorter video that includes only the most important parts is better than a 3 hour video with mostly the reception on it. I really want to find more clients that are looking for shorter and more meaningful videos.

Vajda Sándor there were no alternatives at the time. Feel like there are a lot of analogies here with society. I’m just not into big unnecessary risks that could potentially lose me $100,000s if not millions in potential booking over a career because a story about me losing images goes viral and it always ranks with my name in SEO. It doesn’t matter if contractually I’m covered on that specific job
