Couple quick tips to help with the karting, 1. New slicks, they’ll last a while but you’ll be very surprised at the difference 2. Look at your camber and caster, you can change the handling to be more/less twitchy and you can adjust the torsion bars located just in front of the fuel tank for chassis flexibility IE front end grip. 3. Look at your seating position, you want to be comfortable but at the same time distribute your weight evenly and make sure you aren’t flopping around in the seat. 4. Change your sprocket for more speed out of the corners or along the straights

As a driver of everything from LO206 to Rok shifter, it's very obviously sped up. Find another video of a 206 race and you'll see. With that being said, a Briggs kart will definitely still scare almost anyone who isn't familiar with karting.

Why would someone do that? I get that rubbing is racing, but that looks more like a bump. Perhaps maybe I'm being a bit hypocritical, I destroyed one of my RC cars from always hitting the apex of every corner by accident (this was a long time ago). I can't wait till I can try kart racing. I'm saving the money up for trying a rental kart race. I want to be able to speak from experience about kart racing.

What I cannot deal with when I had my cart is people not caring about you or your cart. They go around acting like the carts are rentals and I got tired of being smashed into people that don't know how to drive. This is a race where my money and yours is put out there as a hobby, not bumper cars. I will say that when everyone actually knows what they are doing, it is really fun. But that was maybe like 1 in 10 races were actually where I went home smiling and not fuming because I am braking for a turn and get side swiped by some kid that played too much nfs and thinks braking is done by using your opponents. And before people comment, I know there is rubbin in racin, but I am talking about the next level of idiot here.

That is the same reason I stopped racing mini stocks at my local race track. The track wasn't harsh enough on black flags so you could get punted into the corner 25mph faster then you should because someone decided to use you as a brake destroy your car, but be out their the next week because of sponsors/daddys money destroying someone elses car.

Went from A+D to Club with track marshall time in between! Rarely missed podium for A+D races and a top 10 was like a win for club race! I was also the lightest driver in the heaviest class. Had over 50 pounds of lead bolted to my kart. Plus as being my own mechanic I really sucked! I got my seat time and spend the weekends with a bunch of great people! My 1st season as a owner I ended up with a season ending oil leak with 2 races to go. One of the race families lent me a spare kart to finish off the year! The very last race I did at end of 2018 I pulled all the weight off my kart and it was so much fun to run light!

No need, they are rear brake only standard, and the way you mod the brakes is to add front brakes either as an extra hand brake behind the steering or to the rear brake set so the act like a car. (You can even replace the foot brake altogether with a handbrake for disabled drivers btw).

Have used one and it's stupid fast! Did 10 seasons of Arrive and Drive in 7 years and 3 years running Briggs Masters. For A+D I rarely missed the podium. With my own kart a top 10 was like a win! Also had a severe weight penalty. Needed 50 pounds of lead and full fuel to make minimum weight! Plus I really sucked as my own mechanic! The last race of 2018 pulled all the weight off and was much more of a fun ride! Also made sure I had bad finish to avoid tech after!! I really backed off at the start to let everyone fighting for points to get away and sort things out! Was 2nd last and was happy !!

Remove the front chrome torsion bar you will gain more chassis flex which will give you more grip. Run your rear axle spacing at 1/2 from the hub surface to the end of axle. Use a large and medium spaced on the front wheels! It will help you around track! My kart is setup like that I think you’ll like it.

Not sure if you didn’t record it or didn’t install it, but the yellow lead is a cylinder head temp gauge! Very good for keeping the engine safe in longer races and making sure you have a proper air fuel ratio. You’ll need to snip the ring off your plug in order to use it, the temp sensor takes its place. There’s also warnings built into your mychron for over temp and over rev. Also stay on top of the clutch and all the bearings, it makes a huge difference. I used to clean and lube my chain after ever race. Most importantly have fun! Karts are awesome.

Find me a "high strung " two stroke kart that you need to rebuild every weekend. I have run everything from the Yamaha KT100, KA100, TAG, 125 Pavasi ICC, and stock Honda CR125. They are all pretty robust and you get out of it what you put in. So generally if a two stroke locks up or blows up 75% of the time its driver/mechanic error. Bad information wrecks the sport.

Word of advice in circuit racing politics: Do not bump other drivers or act aggressively. If you maintain clean presence others will respect you and give you room to race. The few that do not, unleash your wrath on them during the same session so that they know not to mess with you. Your reputation must be of kindness first, and brutal vengance if needed. That will make your journey much much more successful. Driver characteristics in circuit racing in order from most important to least: 1) Talent. 2) Politics. 3) Constructive anger. 4) Luck. Get the first three and the fourth is not needed. Neglect any one of the first three and you will need a lot of the fourth.

A ready to go kart new from Margay is about $4,000. Which may sound like a lot but that barely gets you an auto x spec Miata. Let alone a competitive spec Miata those are 15-20k used and that’s about as cheap as it gets for wheel to wheel racing. Consumables are dirt cheap too. It’s really the initial investment that’s the biggest deal. And engine rebuild is $150-200. Tires are $250. That’s pretty much your season cost besides fuel and entry. It’s a blast.

You need to try a rotax or come to Europe/UK. Main classes over here are Rotax, Iame X30 and ROK. Minimax karts (the second slowest rotax kart class and second lowest weight/age range) will usually be 10 seconds a lap quicker than a 206 series (on a 45-60 second lap). Iame X30 is roughly the same and ROK is even quicker. There are quicker classes but these are the classes that are mainly raced in Europe/UK, by racers aged from 9+. The driving standards are also much higher, with drivers always pushing the limits whilst maintaining fair racing. However, when things go wrong, they can go very wrong and crashes are often very big and very serious.

An alignment is much needed. A set of scales and an toe and camber adjuster would also help tremendously. A set of tires will last all year but having a fresh set every couple races is a good idea and if aloud by the sanction of racing your in tire treatment and torching them before races is smart but definitely alignment is key along with toe and caster. If it's done right you'll be riding on rails through those corners

Pro tip run a half psi less in the engine size rear tire because the heat from the engine will heat it up faster (i work at a kart track)

I get bump drafting down the straight but when you were bumping into the corner to 17, he was just getting you back. And when you went off the track 17 was just maintaining his line

Also, in cold weather, or damp conditions, lean forward on the steering wheel to give grip to the front.

Keep your hands lower on the wheel, work on hour apex's your throttle, you should never been fully off throttle, comming into a turn back off to 3/4 if you have to 1/2 throttle but never fully off, make sure to always draft karting is a draft race especially in a 206 you dont have the power of a tag or even a yamaha, so always try and draft best of luck buddy!

a little late to the video but I used to race karts for ts racing (the ones who run Bushnell) but I did 2 strokes. couple tips though run the bolts in the side panel and rear bumper loose. karts are the opposite of cars and you don't want them stiff they need to flex in order to turn. secondly, tire pressure is just about the best adjustment you can make and you need to adjust it for nearly every session especially races that go till after dark the track cools and this will make an unbelievable difference. third, you can adjust the alignment in the front they make lasers that you put on the front spindles to dial it in but that will come with time. And lastly, have a couple front spindles, tie rods, and kingpins on hand because as someone who has written off a couple chassis that will be far from the last time you wreck and it will almost never be your fault. goodluck and have fun! when I did it I couldn't wait to the day I could move to racing cars and yet now I look back and wish i still had a kart!

You should weld up a stand with wheels that hooks under the rear to hold the kart up for warm up/ wire change stuff like that
