AEW Unrestricted is a great interview websites, I love getting the backstage insight on anything and all AEW related information and personal. Taz is a brilliant wrestling mind, his ECW days were highly decorated. Wasn't given the best hand in WWE, he got more name recognition, but he wasn't used to his full potential during his prime years in WWE, but his commentary work was stellar. Taz gets this business and he knows had to put over other talent and give them legit name recognition. I'm so glad to see Taz is in AEW because he is a great talent, great commentator, coach etc.

TAZ! I remember when he walked out on his debut in WWF with that dark hood over his head. From there on, he's been a badass. It was only later I found out he got injured that's why he does commentary. At the very least, he had a good run. Already on the way up when he got injured --or near the top already. That's why I feel bad for Paige because her back blew out too early. At least Taz got a great run. Thrilled to see him commentating and helping to train on AEW full time. Great addition.

The event Taz is talking about was indeed in Chicago. It was Anarachy Rulz at the Odeum in Villa Park, IL. 9/19/1999. I know because I was there for it! I actually waited in line at the Odeum to buy tickets for the show!

Great interview from Tazz love that he shoots but also keeps some things Kayfabe. Plus he's one of the few from his generation who gets it, and doesn't spend all his breath putting himself over

So I'm just shy of 10m here, and what Taz is saying about the difference in how he's had to be on commentary gave me a moment to pause. We're what, 6 months into AEW on TV? There's no heel commentator, no face. There's no haha-funny commentator (though you could argue guests do that, cause holy crap Jericho and Vickie!). The commentators are just that - commentators. JR is the old school 'call it on the fly', Tony's the play-by-play and seller, and Excalibur is the color commentator for Dynamite. Then on Dark you got Taz and Excalibur, who's styles work well together to bring all 3 styles together. So in this thinking, I hope that Tony Khan and the EVPs (hell of AEW + the whole commentary team) NEVER change this up. Have your guests be the odd 'heel' or 'funny' ones. But keep the essence of the commentary as this triad.

They get the wrestlers as special guest heel commentators which works really well
