People forget how many fmx riders retired after travis did a backflip because it just elevated the bar so much higher. Many riders could throw down wild tricks, but a good handful of pro riders decided backflipping was too dangerous and hung the gear up.

Carey Hart did first backflip. Travis did first double backflip.

Travis was late to the backflip. Twitch & Deegan were already doing it. Cary Hart was the first to do one and Metzger was the first to land 2 back flips back to back. It has also killed riders. RIP Jeremy Lusk.

I’ve heard Johnny Knoxville talk about this he says before he’s getting ready to do something stupid like this he goes blank so like when Travis was telling him not to ditch the bike he wasn’t even listening was just nodding his head 🤣 he had to wear a catheter for years because of this
