Despite an absolute breathtaking voice...what makes this performance extraordinary is Dimitris breath control

Tchaikovsky's music, Puschkin's words, and Hvorostovsky's voice. What a shame the two former couldn't have heard that.

I'll never forget seeing Hvorostovsky sing this a decade ago. Just stunning. The baritone may not get the girl here, but he does get the best aria!

This will always be my favorite aria of his. RIP Dmitri.
