Tchaikovsky's intense symphony starts with four dramatic notes and continues as an emotional rollercoaster. The composer wrote this piece after he got inspired by 'the power of fate', as said by himself. Conductor Christian Lindberg has always been fascinated by the Russian composer and put this fascination to cd in 2016, when he recorded multiple works by Tchaikovsky with the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra. Especially their version of the 'Symphony No. 4' got a lot of praise. To play this piece in the Royal Concertgebouw was the cherry on top for both the orchestra and the conductor.
The musical program:
'Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36' by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Musicians:
The Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra led by Christian Lindberg
Recording: The Sunday Morning Concert of Sunday the 11th of November 2018, live in The Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
