I love this movie. There are many great scenes. The therapy session at the piano with Russel and Carmichael is incredible. If done today people would say it was too modern. It was two non actors nailing it. Another scene remarkable for the use of silence is Myrna Loy at the sink wondering why the kids don't tell her who is that he door. She wants to turn around and see her husband, but does not. She might be remember all the times she hoped, or dreamed, or wished it was him. She does not want to pop the bubble on that moment.

Teresa Wright is the emotional center of this film.

William Wyler could relate to all three of the male characters. Wyler suffered a hearing loss in WW2. He was a wealthy film director. Understood PTSD.

Went on bombing missions. Watched pieces of men he had just met be brought out - or in some cases hosed out - of airplanes. Yes, he understood PTSD.
